Damn,.....my old post is still alive!

  2. Yep, your post is alive and kicking! [IMG]

Here's a pic I took of a straight-axled '57 Chevy racecar at U.S. 30 drag strip in Indiana, circa 1972. Very cool car.

Sorry, not the best pic as I was shooting a old box camera with the old 110 film. [IMG]

I love the sideways tire smoking dragstrip shots!
I did this at a local dragstrip and they threw my ass out!
    Crowd loved it anyway! [IMG]

VonTingler...what issue of Hotrod was that in!
I've gotta dig that one up..hack that particular article out, and use the rest for fire starter. Thanks for reminding me of that car. It HAS the LOOK. No Question.

    Gasser or just bad assed?

  6. I'm working on a gasser-style '56 Plymouth Belvedere 2dr post...I've radiused the wheel wells, welded a home-built steel scoop to the hood. Plans include de-chroming the body, Ansen Sprints out back with black-spoke Torq-Thrusts in front. I'm using a Chrysler sub-frame so I can use the torsion bars to adjust ride height, while keeping it from being too squirrely as a daily go-to-work driver. I'm building up a 440/TF727 combo to motivate it, and there will be no high-tech paint or parts. I'm posting a pic of the car as I got it, then a couple ideas of what it might look like.

  9. I posted a series of pics on a separate post. I think it belongs here too, it's such a awesome ride.

  10. PPoC, is that your '55? That's pretty damned cool! I have a buddy with a "56 Chevy almost that high. I'm not planning on going that high with my Plymouth, but will play with the torsion bars to get the look I want when it's done.

  15. This is the look, the stance I'm looking for! There were/are a bunch of tri-five chevy gassers, but I can't find a picture of a '56 Plymouth gasser anywhere. [IMG]

  16. YES!!! Now, that's what I'm talkin' about! That is basically what I'm doing with the Mayflower, except for radiused wheelwells. I really dig the no-front-bumper look. [IMG]

I just sold mine, it was built by a fellow HAMBer. Its a 1954 Ford skyliner with a Latham blown y-block. If my 37 thats in the classifieds doesnt sell It surely will be getting the gasser treatment.

  18. VonTingler, That was what I thought. I love the '56 Plymouth for a few reasons, like (1) there aren't many of them around, (2) I dig the fins (the first year for Mopar), and (3) I wanted to use a big-block Mopar engine. I've always liked the radiused-wheelwell-no front bumper, jacked-up gasser look, and thought the '56 was a natural. And I LOVE that glass-topped ford! [IMG]

296: That would be an "Altered-Class" car, and it is way cool.

  20. VT, I love those pictures of the primered '55. That's exactly what I'm going to do to my '56, stock wheelwells and all, except I'm going with 10" slicks. It even has the same seats I just picked up for my car in it. Do you have anymore pics of it?

That primered '55 is Rick Delgado's here in SoCal. But he looks more like Ricky Ramone. [IMG] He's very knowledgeable about building early hydro's and I'd bet a hundred bucks there's one in it that he built. That's also an Olds/Pont rear.

He doesn't like to be called. I see his brother at the swaps, but Rick is pretty reclusive.

I remember when Bud King bought that car before they moved to the new shop. It was a beautifull street rod with blue and white roll and pleated interior, blue windows blue with pearl white body, and small block Chevy with 6 dueces as I remember. He completely rebuilt everything in the car with BBC for power and the orange and white King speed shop colors.Them boys still in business?
