  7. Actually just about everything posted here could be considered a "gasser" , anyone who was around in drag racing (or seen old 8mm's ) from 55 -70 (68 or 9 really) knows that literally everything was raced in those classes, not all had the nose bleed attitude, srt axles or olds rears, far from it,the nose bleed was a big deal only for a few years, the street had many more though, even rocky's JEEP, I have pics of several, about the only thing that did'nt fit, would be a full a custom or altered T rdstrs and even Model A cpes/tudors were considered gas class , depends on the years we are talking about , it was constantly changing, though alot of the dual street/drag duty cars had some custom touches,I was at many races, (tho young) where cars like my 57 were there racing ,many old 8 mm's and old drag racing movies I have show literally everything being raced , the gas classes were wide and varied, only the pro cars (if you can call them that ) got the publicity , also the SS and MP ranks were gas classes , only to become the own after the popularity made it nessesary to form new classes to thin the lineups.I am open to correction on this, but it is how i remember it.

    here are some oddball's

  8. [IMG]True, Gassers came in lots of shapes and makes. But, first thing that comes to mind "IS" nosebleed stance when referrring to a Gasser. That's how "I" remember it, and i'm older than dirt!

  9. I do agree, a nose high car screams GASSER! I've had 7 or 8 or so strt axle gassers, plus several with high lift springs and/or ball joint spacers, just pointing out that there were MANY variations is all.

  10. First I believe that there are many types of gassers, but I don't believe that super stockers, etc. were considered gassers, that was a whole seperate class and I don't know if they ever really merged, at least not that I know of. To me, this thread is about straight axle cars that would be found in a gas class, i.e. A/G, B/G, C/G, etc. during the late 50's, into the 60's and even early '70's, at least that is what I'm looking for in this post.

  11. Here are a few more pictures to get this back on track.

Ken McIntyre, my bro's & "Big John" Mazmanian's project car. Look for it a Muckenthaler's car show on Saturday, May 14, 2005 (Fremont, CA) along side the Stone, Woods & Cook Willys. "Big John" will be there and Ken will be firing it up!

Check out the Gasser and Viva Las Vegas movie trailers. Crank up the volume--if you like GASSERs and rods.

Great photos: As you can see from the below photo taken last year, Gene Schwartz has recreated his record-holding Gasser. Both Gene and the Flintstone Flyer will be at Thompson Drag Raceway July 15-17 at Thompson, OH for the GASSER Reunion. Gene lifts those wheels more often Schwarznegger lifts weights.

You can see Gene's cool wheelstands on the Gasser Reunion video at http://www.gassermagazine.com/clubstore.html

Crank up the volume and enjoy. Check out the Viva Las Vegas DVD trailer on the same page.

Here is my gasser project. I got it with an early 60's econoline straight axle under it but I have built another chassis for it with stock type suspension. All these badass Pics make me want to reconsider and leave it as it was. See for yourself.

Hey gasserkid in the process of building a 283 for the car right now it has a mild 350 with a 220 4-speed and a9inch with some 4:56s hope to go some mid 13s. Man its pricy to build a good hi-revving 283 pistons and rings will break a man.

Sorry photoman, the yellow color, pipe bumper makes it look like mine and the big tires, but the tail lights in the fenders, the rollbars and the dump headers says it's not my car. My headers have always exited the fenders above the tires. Someone else out there had dome good ideas too. Just my opinion.

Thanks any way for thinking of me.
