I'm restoring this '55 Fairlane back to how it used to be at the heigt of the gasser wars - save for some saftey and mechanical upgrades. It's been a race car almost it's entire 50 years in existance and was run during the height of the gasser wars.

I've also got a '50s Austin 4 door that's getting built into a gasser as well.

Great to see so much interest in Gassers. I would attach a pic of my ride if I can figure (or someone tell me how) how to insert the picture to keep interest flowing. Duhh...

Here's my corvair. It was built in the late 60's and ran a Mopar 426. I've now got correct torque thrusts and NOS bias ply drag tires and a motor and tranny built for it. I've also got seats. Just need to do the floors now and wire it. I've got pictures of the original paint on the way too so that hopefully will be next.

Thanks guy's for the kind words. The front wheels are 15x4 American flat spokes and the rear wheels in the pictures are 15x10 Cragar's. I will be running 15x8 Americans with cheater slicks when it is done.

I'm building an Altered '36 Dodge panel truck, shortened about 3 or 4 feet, 400 BB chrysler, 426 wedge heads, offy intake (possibly building a long ram 4 deuce setup later), fenderwell headers from a B-body mopar, 727 Torqueflite, 10 bolt GM rear with spool and 4.10's...that's about the basics...I'm waiting to move into my new house and shop so that I can keep working on it, should be done by spring...I hope to be slamming this thing together during the winter, I can't wait to hear that motor crackle and complain about having to buy rear tires all the time...

  29. Sure hope ditching those rear shackles will be first on that "safety and mechanical" upgrade list.

P.S. On second thought, keep 'em. Just put some casters in the lower holes and you got combo wheelie bars!

actually the first thing on the mechanical / saftey list was redoing the entire braking system. The rear end shackle situation was 2nd on the list. [IMG]
