Here is a pic of the 34 I ran at Vargo Dragway near Quakertown Pa.in the early 60s. I usely ran F-G gas but for some reason I ran D/A that day. Being on of the locals, sometimes they would bump me up a class if a new car came. The 56 in the backround was mine that we used to flat tow the 34 to the strip. Ah the good old days!

Oh, and here's one for Rambler-lovers, also in Finland and in-progress.

I'm a Newbie to The H.A.M.B. but I've been building traditional rods for years. I am currently building a 55 Nomad Gasser. I chickened out on a straight axle and went with stock A frames and air bags to RAISE it but it will slam on the ground if need be. My Mad just doesn't l@@K right slammed as well as it does raised in the front. I've got WWW Cheater Slicks on American Torque Thrust with Halibrands front runners on WWW. L@@K for Old School Halibrands on the rear soon. My car has a Old School Gold Metalflake Steering wheel. Hell the whole car is Old School including the dyed black original interior. The only thing replaced on the interior is the carpet and front Bucket seats. I've got an Old School Cross Ram intake to go on it. It just runs so good now that I am Chicken again to start fmessing with it.

Seeing these Gassers gives me a Woodie, especially the ones with WWW's.:D

  12. Gaz..love the Olympia! This is the 57 Kadette I had in Germany in '67. Ran stock engine and tranny with an earlier cylinder head...because it was free!
Note removal of heavy front bumper and grille...spacers in front coils got it up in front...

This is my 41 ford. its on its way to becoming an honest to god race car. it was in one of its past lives (firewall cut out, undersides of cowl beat in for fenderwell headers, hole for hoodscoop in the hood). most of the parts on it were free (including the body and frame) and his been on the street for 3 years, reliable for 1.5. Trying to make it legal to run goodguys or anra, but not gonna sacrifice period correct for it. Maybe just run exhibition at the Reunion. Engine made 600hp on the dyno with the wrong intake (ran out of air at 5000, anybody looking to sell a 60's tunnel ram?).

if anybody has any pictures or info of this car on the track i would greatly appreciate it. it lived in central california most of its life. when i got it it had mustang II and some aweful center crossmember thing so i dont know if it was a gasser or not but it did have time slips in it according to a previous owner.

The motor started out life as a 454, now somewhere around 470. I know its a little late to be right (would have been a really expensive deal in '69) but it is what i got. Iron heads and a first gen torquer (pos, by the way) intake. Headers and an intake are next on the list of things to do. The headers are old rusted el camino headers that we cut apart and reassembled as fenderwells the night before we left for vlv. So those have to go. I had a 69 chevelle ass end (chassis rear crossmember) that actually fit perfectly right in between the 41 frame rails (there was no rear crossmember when i got it). i havent studied suspension geometry but it seemed to me that the lower bars being farthur forward would help the thing launch so i built some 4ft lowar control arms out of tube steel. 55 chev. box and column, green metalflake octagon moon wheel and a ten bolt with a posi. i plan on upgrading to an olds or poncho rear but money is an object so it works for now. So it has the 4link rear. super t-10 tranny (after blowing up a 6-cyl saginaw from a firebird) which im told was an over the counter hop up for the late 60's vettes, but im not a vette man so dont quote me.

I know it dont look like much, but the damn thing can really boogie. On 35 year casler cheater slicks it hooks better than my el camino ever did on drag radials. It sets down on its ass real hard and then jumps out of the hole straight as an arrow. On the street.

    I have pictures at photos.yahoo.com/straycatec
If you really like it that much, i will take some detail shots for you and post them, just ask.

It's neat, I think it may be the only 41 gasser I have ever seen.

This is a great post, some very cool iron. This Dodge was run in the day with a hemi and a 4speed. It is originally a Coronet 500 383 4speed. The fellow i bought it from, builds Super stock 65 hemi Plymouths and this dodge was going to have hemi/injection/4speed. But he is slowing down abit and wants to finish some other projects. So after 2years and becoming friends with both James and his wife. he decided to sell me the Dodge. Plans are to locate a Dodge van front axle and springs to give it more of the Dick Landy flavor(it has a round tube axle now). I have a 68 440 and 4speed that will pretend to be a max wedge look alike.
