I just started my build .. a couple months in... 56 belair post, i located a 57 chevy daytona frame clipped in the late 60s ford straight axle ford pocket leaf spring kit in the rear. The body was a gasser with tilt hood back in its hay day it has hood pins and fender pins when i bought it.the guy i got it from was trying to go stock with it.So i just made it tilt hood again. The 57 frame bolted right up the steering links were included its done right and i feel very lucky right know to have found this stuff at the same time. Its two different gassers coming together now to make one!:)

Got my junk to the track this past weekend for the last race of the season

It ran a best of 11.31 @ 111 shutting off at 1100 ft due to a wind gust
The next pass it pulled the wheels 3 feet (No pictures %$#@) I can't wait to hit the trans brake next season

2 year build that, so far, was worth every minute and every dime.
    And it's not over yet...

I just saw this car this past weekend. It was just pulled from the museum 2 weeks ago.

This car is so totally cool!! It has pleated inner fender wells and radiator cover and firewall. Chrome brake line looming. Super sweet wheelie bars and a completely chromed transverse I-beam axle and spring.

If my Skylark gasser turns out anywhere near this I'll be the happiest guy in the world.

YOUR JUNK:eek:, I know its a figure of speech but that is so cool, 11.31 at 111 m.p.h. and shutting down earlly, man that thing is going to fly when you put a complete pass together. Very neat ride.

Believe me when I say that it is truly a term of endearment. I have loved every minute building the "Elephant Hunter".

I have a Pro System carb on the way which should solve my bog issue and add a few ponies and mph on the top end. Once I get my $%&! together and drive it properly I'm hoping for high 10s with what is basically a strong street motor.

I still have a .700 roller cam sitting on the shelf and a set of Hilborn injectors waiting in the wings.
