Here's mine...Even though there isn't too much wiggle with a car up and the columns not bolted down I made a slight mod..Enclosed is a pic of the base mod I did..I took 2" long hex [5/8-11] bolts and turned and faced the hex head to just fit in the plate holes and not be thicker than the plates..Screwed the nuts on all the way to the turned area and Welded the nuts to the base plates...With the ramps all the way down, jiggle the columns [one at a time] to be plumb in both directions..Screw the jack bolts down finger tight..With car up it feels like its bolted down..

I have an inground Rotary 10,000lb twin post lift.
My shop is rather small(36x36), so I needed the room that an above ground wouldn't give me. It is wide open in the center, so pulling trannies is not a problem!

If you look at the second picture you see the black rolling bridge that he uses with a bottle jack to get it up and then slides the jack stands under it and moves to the other end. I picked up 2 of the rolling scissor jacks for mine at about $550 a piece and it is painless to get it up for suspension work and they have locks so it is safe.

  5. I have a bendpac 10,000# asemmetrical ,have had it for about 7 years .I use it for a lot more than lifting cars. I don't like to do any work on cars without putting on the lift.

I have a old linatronics lift two post from the 80's it has metal outriggers at the bottom of the two posts it does not need to be bolted down an i have moved it around the shop several times. Lots of used lifts out there today a commercial shop cant get insurance if the lift does not have locking arms most older lifts do not. if buying new get the asymetrical and mohawk is the cadillac of lifts.

I just got mine a month ago. my shop is small and I was worried it was going to make things even tighter but with it all the way up I can walk around under it without ducking & I'm 6'. Sold my last build to build the shop...traded a very crusty 64 comet for the Eagle brand lift. so far I'm very happy with it!

just a small point about those that think a pit is the qway to go, Put it in, and just TRY to get insurance. IF you can there will be a huge rider that you have to pay.

    i looked into it.

  12. The more I research and weigh the pros and cons for each different type of lift, I am almost convinced the for my particuler situation that the MaxJax will suit me best. Todd

You will be surprised at how much room you add with a 4 post lift. Mine is simple to move if needed. Normally I just send it to the top and there is plenty of work area unobstructed underneath to do any thing you want. My car is to low for using a 2 post.
