I'm trying to decide what to put under the hood of my 48 F1 and have started looking at Ford 240/300s.

Any thoughts on those things? I *love* inline 6's.

My latest ride ('49 Chevy) came equipped with a '70 Nova 250 six, PG and rearend. I don't know what the rear gear is though (any guesses?).
It curreently has a single barrel carb but plans are for a 2x1 intake, Pertronix ignition and a 350 Turbo. It already has split manifold and duels.
I'm hoping this will wake it up a little and give me a little more off the line.

Here's my crusty '66 Ford PU 300. Chevy 1.94 intakes, 2 500's, Pertronix, AOD. It's interesting I sent the pic to Inliners when they were looking for filler and a mag in Australia did an article on the site and used my pic. So I have a magazine car! Also note the extension for the brake light switch when I converted to dual master and disc brakes. Seemed easier than splicing the harness.

[/ QUOTE ] Cheers Mate! for compliments I'll post a couple of pics

[IMG] here is my $50 Chev body.

& truck bonnet for the tail section.

Story a bit O/T [IMG] [IMG], I'll post a couple of pics of other straight 6s that I have for other projects later today [IMG]

  22. Here is one of my other striaght sixes. It's out of a early sixties Vauxhall (GM) Cresta and has a 12port head so should be able to pull some extra neddies without too much work. Standard they put out 85hp from 138ci so I'm holding on to it for a future build.

  25. Since this post started I've got my car on the road and driven it 1500 miles. The 250/TH200R4 combo is working nicely on the whole. I'm getting about 28 MPG city. No road trips yet.

When I ever finish my current project, my next one will be powered a 235 six. A buddy of mine gave me an old 235 that must be rebuilt. He also gave me a McGurk intake for it. Last week he called and said he found the carbs and linkage for it too! I asked how much and he said to buy him a beer sometime. His dad was into sixes and left him a lot of stuff that doesn't interest him. [IMG]
