Didn't I see that one on The Viintage Vehicle Show recently?
Must've been cool, being on TV and all.
    ...cruz the triple X often?

  3. The Vintage Vehicle Show films at the XXX often, but I've never had this frame only truck over there. The Truck in my avatar has been filmed by the crew of the Vintage Vehicle Show. I know Lance Lambert, see him at just about every car function I attend.
I cruise the XXX every chance I get, it's just across the freeway, so close I can smell the burgers cooking on a good day.

Ah, you live on The Plateau. ( :D )
I used to slide at Waterworks Park and worked at the Firestone in Gilman Village.
What's the bar with the big moose head in it again? The Union Tavern?
Used to go there for a beer quite often, after work.
Never knew it was the oldest bar in town until years later.
Is Toshi's still by the grocery store in Gilman Village? (Safeway, wasn't it?)
Man, that place is like the Dick's of Chinese food. Cheap and nothin' to write home about, but addictive as h3LL!
Anyway, nice meetin' ya. Maybe I'll see ya' on Lance's show one of these days.

I think you'll be happy with your ride once you finish it and the only one you need to make happy is yourself Not so much others.Nice project :)

The Merc looks like its coming along nicely.
Should be a very nice car, once finished (please post pics here, or at least link it in this thread so we can see).
Don't worry about haters. They're a small percentage of any community and only mouth off because they lack the ability to appreciate the genious of others.
Perosnally, I think using a six for a power source is a nice, classic, touch and shows taste and attention to detail (and history) on your part.
    Way to go.

I got a stock re-built 194 6 in my Acadian. Runs great. If and when it wears out I will re-build it or replace it with a 250. No SBC will go in it as long as I own it.

I bought my '49 5 yrs ago with the original 216.I drove it untill August of last year when the timing gear went out at the worst possible time .I knew the 216 would not last forever and so I bought this 261 off of ebay in april 2010 for $475 . It has 2000 miles on a rebuild and came with a new 11" clutch.I found an offy 2 carb intake at Iola, bought 2 YFs from 6inarow,and a hei from langdons . I repainted the motor w/paint from Bill Hirsh and powdercoated everything that I could fit in my oven.I hope you all enjoy.PAUL

Here is a 235 splasher that was converted to full pressure and has a side draft trip carb. system. It is impressive for what it is.

Just bought a 63 BelAir with 28,000 original miles. Three on the tree.
I call it my time machine. Didn't think i would like it but it really puts a smile on my face when I drive it. Just a way cool old car.
