I'm new to hot rods but not to cars. I've built a few muscle cars. I've seen the traditional duce roadster and want my own. I'm formulating my idea of what I want to build.

from the horror stories I've read on here. I want to know who is a good company to buy a glass body from for everyday use thanks in advances for the help.

    Welcome to the H.A.M.B.!

Just so you know, many on this board will take exception to using the term "Traditional" and "Fiberglass" in the same sentence (or paragraph).

That stated, it is very much possible to build a Traditional-styled Deuce Roadster using a glass body.

There's lots of choices these days for glass '32 roadster bodies ... but I'll leave it to other HAMBers to give you a recommendation.

Why not just use a steel one? Plenty of companies out there making new steel bodies...

There are probably twentyfive thousand reasons why not to use a steel one.

Firstly welcome to the HAMB. This is an awesome resource filled with exceptional fabricators and if I may make a suggesstion spend as many hours on here as you can reading old threads. We may even convince you that glass isnt the go :)

Steel 32 bodies bring huge $ as you know but why not build a steel A rather then a glass 32 or even maybe something different like a chev. A coupe, tudor even raodaster bodies are readily available and quite cheaply, just scan the classifieds here. Sure they'll need some work but building a car is a long term commitment and the skills you learn will hold you in good stead. That way you might be able to sell the finsihed A and use that coin to buy a steel body for a 32. Only suggesstions though but as has been pointed out above this is a Trad site and glass cars arent as loved here as other sites.

Once again welcome to the best car site around :)

I was thinking something completely different. :p

  11. My wife would say Doors era Val Kilmer, while I was more of a Fairuza Balk fan. But if you mean glass, yes, Wescotts is the best. Karl Wescott is even a HAMBer and they have been building glass parts since the 50s so they are actually more trad than say Brookville.

Glass around here to many is like kissing your hottie cousin, many would do it but never admit it. ;)

I bought a A. I. Fiberglass 1929 A roadster body in 1984 for 500 all I could afford.I'ts been on the road since 1986. All the fun you can have with your clothes on. A 1932 has more room inside and more wind protection. Go for it. I'ts all good. If not too much more money look at 1934 also, even more wind proof. Build what you want and can afford.Don't spend your life on the sidlines cause you can't have the absolute Best.

Wescott is the best I agree and are in Oregon but talked to Dee's son at Louisville Wed. and he says they have cut way back and you will have a wait but their bodies are very nice but if you get all of the traditional things you say you want like external hinges, handles etc then believe it or not it will cost almost as much as a Rod Bods or Brookville steel body. B Bops out of Athens Tenn are excellant and we sell them in traditional trim for around 7000.00. We can deliver it at Bakersfield NSRA show next April 2010. Also Polyform in Southern Calif was good but I don't know if they are still doing it.

look at it this way...steel rust, glass will stress crack ...

  24. At least he asked for good, not cheap. Having said that, the search function should turn up endless pro/con discussions about bodies.

Have you considered a Model A? I'm finishing a '29 on '32 rails, which most would qualify as a traditional combination, and the cost is considerably less than a '32. Good luck with your project.

  27. Do consider a 30-31 style body on 32 frame.

The steel bodies are a lot cheaper than the Deuce steel bodies.

Imo, the 30-31 A on 32 frame is a better looking car than the Deuce.

Probably best looking of all is a 28-29 on 32 frame roadster, but there's considerably more work involved vis a vis body/frame fit.

There are several ways to do a 30-31 A on Deuce rails and the easiest way looks just as good as the one with all the work done to it.

Do a search for Model A on 32 frame articles and you should find a lot of info....

Amen. Wescotts is the best, but price & freight costs as much as Brookville. most bang for the buck is Brookville 31 "A", but it ain't a Deuce. did a "Show Me" once, good value also N & N and Bear Fiberglass. WBRW32 makes a Great body in Texas. PM him

    Love em all :D :D :D :D

  29. From a total project cost standpoint you will spend about 50% of your money on a body and frame. These are the only two components that you can not upgrade later. So, when you think about satisfaction at the end you need to make the right choices up front.

Best value on a quality glass body: http://www.showmerodandcustom.com/

Best value on a quality frame: http://www.blackboardhr.com/

In my humble opinion of course.
