I took my father in laws 55 over to get inspected and a couple of things failed. Little things in the front end mostly. So who has the best kit?

Here's one currently on eBay: Item number:220466071333. Looks good and the price is certainly good...if it stays where it is.

I've gotten suspension kits and parts from Kanter Auto Products for other cars that were fine.

Chances are pretty good that NAPA, O'Reilly and other auto parts stores could special order the parts also, perhaps in a brand like Moog.

You'll need to cultivate a counter person who'll go the extra mile, however, as stuff for a 1955 car probably won't be in the computer. He'll have to go to the books!:eek::eek:

    Hope this helps. :)

Are you looking at rebuilding what's there or using modified parts for a more up to date type suspension?

I got the parts from Kanter. Everything fit right. Didn't need ball joints.

As far as ball joints, make sure some one who knows front ends inspects them. The ball joints on 54 to 56 Fords were about the best joints ever made (Checker cabs used them for years) and hardly ever wear out as long as they got some grease. As these are the most expensive items in the whole front end, be sure yours are bad before tossing them. If you do toss them, send them my way (no fooling).

Obsolete Ford has been real good on price and quality for me,Kanter is overpriced.

    Thanks guys,
The guy doing the inspection I trust pretty well. And my father inlaw wants to make this car right so he can drive it all the time.

Paul I'm going to double check the ball joints if they were used in cab they must be beefy.

I saw Kanter and thought is was pricey. As for local parts stores I have to teach my Napa guys every time I'm in there. I think they get the old Ford stuff from Obsolete if I remember. There are a few on ebay maybe I'll go that way. Either way I keep you all posted.
