~E~, Thanks man! Check out the thread on my roadster if you haven't yet. Link is below my signiture. Flyin-t, '63 Chev brakes huh? Wow, never heard of that one.
Tim, Bolt pattern is the same- you may need to have a spacer if your rear brakes are for a wooden wheel, but that's not too difficult to do.
Bill, Thanks for those pix of the Olds head! Very similar to the Chev head that I have in basic design but that exhaust layout is much better. Just gotta keep my eyes peeled for one. That RAJO is killer! have been watching that thread on the MTFCA site too....wish I had the green to snag one!
Any chance you can e mail a larger and easier to read copy to anyone interested? What ever I do use I want to make sure replacement parts are easy to get.
If I hear of one floatin' around I'll let you know. The layout gets even better inside- no right angles to bounce off of! Yeah, in a perfect world they'd pay teachers as well as they do pro athletes and then I could pick up a head like that Rajo... but I digress
Excellent! I would appreciate a lead on one. Not gonna start that build up for a while (got a few other things to finish first), but would like to aquire everything I need before hand.
Can't remember where I saw it, maybe on here. Is it true that the '26/'27 spindles will lower the front compared to the earlier spindles?
I am on the lookout for a pair of the '26/'27 T spindles if anyone has some they can do without. Zach, do you have a pic of the Chevy pieces? What years would I look for?
J Man, I have an extra pair of Chevrolet spindles if you're interested. The bushings just need to be reamed to fit the T spindle bolts and will lower the front end more than '26-'27 T spindles.
Me too. Is that one going in the roadster in your avatar? On another note, has anybody viewing this thread reconfigured a T block to use an A flywheel, clutch, and transmission? I know it's been done, but there isn't much "how to" information out there. -Dave
bigcheese- I know it's been done, just don't know how to do it (don't you just love my useless info)... I've been reading through John Gerber's book 20's-30's sprint car racing and he mentioned flipping the triple gears in a T tranny to get a better high/low ratio.
Mac, What Chevy 4 parts are you needing? I've got some Chevy 4 stuff that I've collected with the thought of using Neal Jern's adaptor kit, but I'm thinking now that I will use the Z head and Stipe cam instead. I might decide to sell or trade the Chevy stuff. I've got a complete '27 engine (which I acquired for the crank) and trans., and an NOS '28 2-port head.
T-Time, I'm looking for a '25 (or earlier block) without the cam-driven distributor, clean "push&pray" parts for a '28, and extra cams. The '27 engine sounds interesting if it's running
Is there anyone that can do a side by side comparison of '26/'27 T spindles versus the early ones? I can't figure out for sure what I have as all the other ones I find are the same as mine.
J Man, If the spindle is "in the middle", it's an early one- if it's off-center, it's '26-'27. I haven't been able to find a good pic of a Samson engine, but I just need the timing cover/gears. The block is the same as Chevrolet, but the timing cover is set up for a magneto. Samson was a west coast company that built trucks from 1919-1923, when they were bought out by GMC- here are a couple pics of Samson trucks:
How about showing us the progress on this one Zach that motor was an awsome find cant wait to see what you have done with it
RussTee, great looking project! Who made the rear underslung brackets, they lookk just like toe old Laure/ROOF brackets. Bob
