I've got a 53 Ford ranchwagon with a speedo that does not work. Who out there is a quality rebuilder of speedometers?
www.speedoservice.com I've had 2 repaired here, quick service, fair pricing and called with estimate before doing the work. e1956v here on the hamb.
I'm late to the part but Rusty at www.speedoservice.com has repaired one for me and helped me a couple of times with cables. He is a Hamber. HRP
Had my instrument panel including speedometer rebuilt by a company out of Riverside,Calif and it took almost 3 1/2 years. Never again!
i wish I had known about Speedoservice! I used Redline Gauge works for a '49 Ford 5 in 1 cluster in another project a few years ago, for converting to a volt meter, fixing the speedometer and bench testing/ calibrating the other gauges, with no cosmetic restoration work. the 1 month lead time was thrown out the window, emails went unanswered or answered with vague time frames that didn't mean anything and I think I finally got it back 7+months later, although it works nicely and I was happy with the price. if they had said it would take 6+months to get to right off the bat, I would've been fine with it, as I wasn't in much of a rush, but being brushed off and mislead, left a bad enough taste in my mouth that i'll go to someone else this time.
I recently had my 52`s speedo rebuilt by them, has`nt been tested yet, hopefully a good repair. Their turnaround was as stated, 1 week. Just my experience.
Nevada speedometer, Sparks Nv. they've done cable drive tachs and speedos for years for me, just had a 56 Ford speedo gone thru and a speedo for a military GTB worked over, always promptly done.
Just revisited their website, and it seems to be a lot more polished looking so maybe they have tightened up a bit in the 3'ish years since my dealings with them. Not sure why mine took so long, maybe they were having some internal staff changes, or it wasn't a major overhaul job so it was pushed to the back. it was a 5 or 6yr project so it didn't really cause any timeline issues, its just nice to be kept in the loop I suppose. like I said, they were very thorough and I was very happy with the end product, just not so much on the communication end. I am sure you will be happy with their repairs. Maybe I will reach out to them when it comes time to go through my current buick's gauges.
Thanks for the info. I had a speedometer rebuilt locally, but it did not last long. I have a spare I will send them, plus the conversion they offer for electronic transmissions will work on my current project.
Have paid a visit to these guys to discuss a rebuild on recommendation of others, seemed to be well versed in old stuff. http://www.paspeedo.com/ .
Sounds like United Speedometer in Riverside. F rating with the BBB. Checked with them several times on a couple of gauge issues and never had a good feeling. JMO
I'll throw another vote in For Rusty at www.speedoservice.com. Very friendly and easy to work with. Had him re calibrate the KPH speedo in my 50 to MPH. Service was on time and everything works as it should.
3 1/2 years and you actually got it back!?? It's been a couple of years and my buddy has given up on getting his 32 Ford speedo back from those guys. By the way, the pictue of the pretty new commercial building is NOT their location. Just sayin. Don't want some one else to get burned Sent from my SM-G550T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
His shop is at his garage next to his house. I had to bring another speedo i bought from ebay since i was concerned i would never see my unit again. Apparently they lost track of my original unit so they rebuilt my new one in 6 weeks. Never, never again!
