Who is going to Billetproof Detroit?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RacerRick, May 10, 2007.

  1. I am coming from Toronto - anyone want to caravan down?

I am still working on getting the 49' roadworthy, so I don't think I will have time to work out any bugs. Or get the interior into it.

That old car will make it! ;) :)

Once it gets on the road, it likes to just keep going!!!

If I'm back in town by then...I'll be there. If not, I hope to catch up with you and that old rustbucket some other place along Life's highway!!!

    Good luck!!

The boys and I will be there. We were hoping to have Court's truck with an engine in it but he whiped out on his scooter the other night trying to play X games elevendy and now sports a nice blue cast on his right arm.

My wife wants me to call Ray (Safariknut) and having him pin stripe it or at least flames!

  13. I am thrashing on the car to get it as least drivable. It still have to get it safety checked and I am really stuck on the windshield wipers.

There is still lots of work to do...

Will a 54 vacuum windshield wiper motor work? I've got a spare.

The burn-out contest, figure 8 racing and panel jam are all set to go. Should be the largest show yet, registrations are up.

    Ooops! Heh Heh...sorry about that!!! :D

(I robbed some of the wiper system parts off of that car to use on my 52...so I can tell you that the stuff interchanges from 49 up to at least 52...can't say for sure about the 53-54 stuff, though.)

Actually, those wipers are SUPER simple to work with. I used the parts from two cars that had incomplete wiper systems to make one that worked. In simplest terms, a vacuum hose runs from the engine (manifold vacuum) to a switch in the dash, then up to the vacuum operated mechanism under the cowl that moves the wiper arms through a simple linkage set-up. Very self-explanatory when you look at it.

Want me to send you a Michigan plate to hang on it if all else fails and you feel brave at the last minute?! ;) :D

Sure thing Mike. May be with a trailer with Court's truck on it! Dirt bikes are fun. I spent 63 days of my senior year in high school in a hospital bed because of a 3 wheeler. Might upgrade!

Wiper stuff is already out of the 54. It is in a pile on a counter in the barn.

Me TOO!!! I'll be there and this year my car wil be there too! I was hoping to get a caravan together for people west and south of the show, maybe meet somewher in Jackson, Chealsea or the Ann Arbor area. For those of you that remember last year I had my homemade "I made it to Billetproof but my car didn't" t-shirt. I'm gonna bring it with me to the show and the first person that finds me and their car didn't make it to Billetproof gets my shirt.... But you have to pass it on to the next guy for the '08 show!!

    Did you wash that shirt?

How about Sam's Club parking lot at Michigan Ave and Carpenter (I94/US23)? Plenty of room there and easy in and out.

What kind of time are you talking? If we don't haul Court's truck, I'll have the DD chase vehicle with a tool box.

Well I'll be going from I-94 to M-14 and then to US23 north. Or at least thats the way I normally go?! There is a car pool lot before you get to I-96. I'm sure we'll figure somethin' out in the next couple of weeks.

I've been racking up the miles on the old '32 and so far so good. I'll be right behind Fuelpump and Jdubba in the usual pack of northern GMB's.

Hippie, if you just run straight down 94 to 23 and go south a mile, you'll be about 5 miles longer drive tops. I haven't heard Hoboy56 chime in but I 'spose he's coming from Ypsitucky with or without windows.

I can't picture the car park place unless you are talking about the one at like Territorial Road or whatever is up there. I'm heading for Milford now so I'll scout it out.
