Who likes something different? I've been hard at work!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BloodyKnuckles, Oct 24, 2005.

  1. Well here's the deal. I wanted a triple carb intake with split headers so I looked around and nothing seemed just right. One day I was on here and read a few posts from a fellow HAMBer Moose. He can build your design. So I called him, told him my thoughts and he built me what I wanted. When I reecieved it I did a few modifications but it was pretty much what I asked for. Moose did a great job.
I also put on a set of smithy's and brand new old style cut-outs for functioning lakes. The car runs much better with this new set-up. I still need to dial it in a little but I am stoked!

    What do you think?? Different?

A breath of fresh air to see a beautifully detailed engine like that.
I was looking at the fuel line setup. Do you think the lack of support at the multiport fuel log and the feeder lines are supported enough to eliminate those copper lines from vibrating and cracking in time? I cant see any support for the log but maybe its just the angle. I dont ever want to see this one burning?
I want to do this to a banger someday!

    Awesome job.

  11. Thanks for the positive responses guys. This is on my '51 Plymouth.
Petejoe, I appreciate your concern but there are little hooks welded to the down tube directly behind the fuel block and it rests right in there so there is no strain on the lines, thanks again for keeping an eye out!
    Thanks again,

Bloody Kuckles Did you position the main plenum over the head for the heat(like a wather heated manifold)? or did you just like to look of it?

  19. I was having problems with the gas boiling in the factory location so I thought it would help by locating it as far away from the headers as possible plus I also liked the look! This set-up may not be ideal but we'll see.

Wow. That is a work of art. The whole engine bay looks great. Id have to drive with the hood off if that was my engine bay.

  21. I did a couple interesting things throughout this project. One was the head; when I had it off I wanted to paint it but I hated all the crap in the casting (numbers, letters and symbols) so I ground everything on the head smooth except a #51, P, and the Chrysler Plymouth Dodge Desoto emblem. Two was the coil cover; if you look at the air cleaner in the first pic it is a old aluminum can, I cut it down, polished it and slid the coil inside, perfect fit! I found out the battery tray is aluminum so I tried to polish that also. Polished the t-stat housing.
This was alot of work but was a blast. Thanks again for all the props.

Can I be so bold to ask what you payed for this awesome work? I've got a flat 6 in my Ford and was thinking of doing something along these lines.

  28. Contact Moose on here, he can hook you up with the intake but everything else I did including mods to the intake. He is very resonable. You won't be dissapointed.

Bloody unique and way far retro looking. I have an Offy intake modified to a triple carb setup for my Ply flathead motor, but I think I like yours better. You get tonights award for super simple home brewed engineering:
