I'll use any excuse to jump in my 40 coop and drive, even if its to run and get some milk or something. There were many summer nights when I would go out on the pretext of fetching something for the wife and I'd just have to drive by the local hang out to see if anyone was there. If they were, needless to say I wasn't going to be home any time soon. I've been driving that 40 for 28 years now and I always get that same goofy feeling when I get her out on the road and open it up. Nothing quite like looking down the hood of a hot rod. Lately with buying a new house and building a garage, there hasn't been as much time for cruzing as I'd like, but I find myself pulling the 40 out of the garage just so I can check her out as I'm working around the yard. You know, looking at it from different angles just to make sure you got the stance right n ****.... Yeah, you don't have to say it......I'm a little screwy. Kind of reminds me of a Trosley cartoon............:D

I take any opportunity I get to drive the hot rod. Sometimes it's just to run an errand other times it might be a coast to coast drive. I've put 30,000 on it since Aug. 04. This includes Ca. twice, Fl. and Prince Edward Island. I've driven it as far as 1150 mi. in 19 hrs and 8,000 mi. in a month. Being as I live in Mi. this means it gets put up in the winter so driving time has only been about 19-20 months.

I'd rather go out cruising around for no reason than sit at a car show any time! It's amazing how much longer the cruise is when you get a few good songs on the radio. I'm 36, but drive like I'm 16 again when I get behind the wheel of my 40.
I moved to a new neighborhood a couple of yeras ago. It's amazing how many neighbors I've met by leaving my 40 out, or at least the garage door open. Your right too...I just love looking at it when I'm working in the yard or something. Probably stupid to advertise what's in your garage, but I like to show it off!

I'm so into cruising my car that I could be in the middle of welding something, bare metal spots everywhere and just as a break from working on it all weekend, I'll use the car to go get lunch or something. I guess I'm over what others think of my car, its what I think that matters. If the Hamb has taught me anything it's just that. who cares. It's too hard to get the car in jack stands though, with so many shows here in So Cal, any real major work that needs to be done is put off just so I can drive to an event every weekend. Driving and working on it, best of both worlds.

Hey, wasn't ORIGINAL cruising for no good reason? Good enough for me. In fact, the line that started what is currently a seven year relationship with my girlfriend was, "Do you like convertibles?"

I never feel anymore content that driving one of my old cars down the road. Dosent matter to where.
Thats one reason I am going crazy lately. I've got one car down for about anoth 6 months and I sold the other one to a friend. I've been looking for another old car to buy and drive for the last 4 weeks and I cant find anything I like.
    Damnit.
