Who makes a good double flaring tool?

Got lucky enough to borrow a bluepoint hydraulic unit to do the whole system on my A.
Easy, and every flare perfect the first time.

 

I have a westward Plier Flaring tool that looks like this one. Works good and has a tight grip on the tubing that has an adjustable cam.

Rigid does not offer any flaring tools for steel tubing. I was going to buy one then saw a foot note that said they were not for steel tubing. I even called and explicitly asked them if they had any for mild steel brake lines, which they said they did not.

In a pinch I ordered the Speedway double flaring tool and it really sucks. The cone is not hardened and gets all chewed up doing the first flare with the insert. The bars dont line up nicely. It's hardly impossible to do a straight flare with anything bigger than 3/16" because the insert will start to tip to one side resulting in oval holes (and this after very careful cutting and deburring). To Speedways credit the sent me another tool for free. I ended up machining a hardened cone from tool steel, which holds up nicely. I will have to make a fly faced cup to replace the cone for doing the first flare. The flat face will prevent the insert to tip to one side. I ended up using my hydraulic press to do the first flare and it resulted in much straighter flares than the screw in cone.

 

I have a Rigid from the depot. Ordered the little double flare tabs. Works good. Got a Blue Point from my sisters husbands stuff. Whole lots better. The rigid seems to let the tube slide after you start your flaring. Blue Point does not.

 

Another vote for a blue point, I love mine, never a problem making a perfect flare everytime.
