    hey guys,

looking around for a simple 14ish inch tall floor shifter for an automatic. something that with a 4 speed nob on it could look like a stick shift shifter. just nice and basic no super duper ratched airshift monster of a ****er.

    just simple.

i like the ones lokar carries but at a speedway price of 190 bux i figured it was worth asking if anyone else has got a source for a quality product that doesnt cost quite so much.

    thanx

Mr Roadster/Hurst made a nice one, but I haven't seen their ads recently.
Is Mr Roadster still in business?

The B&M runs about $160, the Hurst goes for about $225. I think the Lokar's start at about $160 or so at Jegs or Summitt depending on the model.

B&M and Hurst still make a very simple floor shifter for under $100, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for . The B&M is cable operated and the Hurst still uses rods. They're both pretty basic units, although I think the B&M does have a nuetral start switch.

does the cheap hurst unimatic bolt to the transmission?? i got a b&m universal at a swap meet for 10 bucks, didnt like the cable setup and it bolts to the floor. i chopped the flat shift rod off, ran a few bolts through the stub and welded on a tire iron, kinda a cool little unit, but havent had a use for it yet. i got a lokar in my 55, but it wasnt cheap, but i sure like the positive shifts nice and tight. always hated the column shifter if you had any flex that would keep you guessing. thinking about making my own shift rod for the powerglide out of the 57 for the international. got a old shifter off the international manual with the bottom swivel attached. thats if i use it, thinking about finding a manual for it.
