I was telling a friend of mine about those shifters that mount under the dash and are like 4" long or so. I rember seeing it in a mag or something can't find it now, the only thing I could find was this pic of a truck that had one in it. Thanks for the help keven
That was my friends truck, we chopped a couple years ago. He made that one, copyed a store bought one, Uses a cowl vent handle......OLDBEET
very old hondacars, and 60s dodge trucks, both with the automatic option, had dash mounted shifters. not neat looking like that though
It's sad that I knew this and that was the first thing that I thought of when I saw the thread Here's how the Honda was... (cover your eyes if you don't want to see it!)
Thanks for the replies. I did a search for Windsor could not find it yet but I will keep looking. As for the honda thing, those look to be manual shifters, the one I am talking about is just an automatic, cable type that mounts out of the way under the dash. Thanks keven
One of my friends bought a house that came with a '55 Dodge in the basement garage, and it had a dash mounted shift lever (not pushbutton). You could always adapt the shift control from a '61-'63 Pontiac Tempest/LeMans.
Why can't you rob the guts from one of those ugly as hell cable automatic floor shifter. When you remove the big box, the mechanism usually isn't that big and bulky. I see them at flea markets but I've never priced a used one. They are sooo hideous looking on the floor. I could live with it upside down under the dash.
