I recently scored an sbc manifold with three 2's. The manifold was cast with the name CREITZ near the water neck. A search only turned up the Creitz and Donovan dragster team. I'd like to get the history on this piece. Any information would be appreciated.

There's a few Creitz manifolds out there. Fairly rare, but not all that effective, compared to Edelbrocks....they seemed to be very similar to Offys.

I had a creitz low rise 2x4 intake for an SBC. It was crazy looking because instead of having 8 intake runners it only had four. Know what im saying how SBC's have 4 runners on each side two each blocked together. This had those two blended into one. What I learned was just that he was a 60's drag racer, possibly top fuel type dragsters. I never used in on anything and sold it at a swap meet for 175.00 or so. Couldnt see it being practical on the street, but thats never stopped me before.

bob creitz or his brother were (are ) out of oklahoma city .....last i heard they or he was restoring bikes.....they also made aluminum 12 spoke dragster / altered wheels.....pretty rare....not much on resale....sorta odd as the spokes are straight in line ....not staggered like a american ....supposedly the intakes were a multi fit application ....2 4's , blower, etc....on one intake......and the creitz and donavon deal are connected.....brandon previous creitz owner

I've seen the same creitz intake casting machined for either dual quads or three two barrels--since it's basically an open pit inside, anything goes as far as carb mounting. They're cute, but I'm sure there's absolutely no low end.

Don Creitz raced top fuel in the 60s-70s, based out of Tulsa (see the old decal that Mutt showed). Pretty successful; he won several NHRA tropies, and maybe a championship or two. Made the speed equipment to 'fuel' his hobby. If you ever see Creitz wheels, you'll see that they look a LOT like Halibrands.

I've seen three pairs of Creitz wheels. One pair in California, one pair in Florida, and this pair which was on eBay. All of them were magnesium front wheels that were inspired by American Racing's 12-spoke spindle-mounts, and all were 16s, a size that American never offered their 12-spokes in. Creitz wheels sure weren't designed for turning corners.

  13. Crietz still has a shop on 46th in Tulsa. They do typical mechanical work, but I often see more classic cars there for maintenance.

That intake is a kool score. I hadn't thought about looking for one of those. I'd like to have one just to hang on the wall. Real Tulsa race history.

    Thanks for answering!

I ran one of the low rise dual quads on a 40 chevy. I always wondered about that.
I never did like that car all that much.....

Used to get out to Creitz's shop sometimes when I was a kid. Some really great cars and parts went thru there. If I remember correctly he was making some of the parts for Greg (Catfish) Bush's aluminum 350, suicide clutch motorcycles.

  18. They also made wheels. they had a 2 piece front runner way before anyone ever got credit for the "Billet Wheel".

Bob's shop is just east off Memorial on 46th street. After he stopped racing, as John Collins crew Chief (remember the Pioneer funny cars?) Bob started playing with experimental aircraft, and won grand national champion for his RV6 at Oshkosh one year. I saw him last year on his bike during the Toys for Tots run.

Hello new here. seen the post on this and had to say that I have a set of his wheels on my K-88 front engine dragster. I like them, lots of people look at them and ask what kind of wheel, and where did I get them. They were on the car when I bought it about 30 years ago. I've been trying to find new tires for them but 2.25 x 16 is real hard to find. I had the car out in front of my garage about 2 years ago a guy was driving by and seen the car, came up and talked to me about the car and knew that they was Creitz wheels and ask what it would take to buy them, I said not for sale, he offered me a thousand dollars for them, he said he knew who made them and said there will never be anymore made. I still have the wheels and the car.:D

We're running a Creitz intake on the Lander with alqmist adapters for twin 2 barrels. I think Dickster told me the intakes were only made for two years if I remember correctly.

I talked to Bob Creitz a couple of weeks ago at the CHRR. He and Tom Hanna were there with their cacklefest cars. Bob restored the Creitz and Donovan front motor top fuel car that was driven by the late Steve Carbone in 1969. Steve won both the NHRA and AHRA world championships that year.

I talked to Creitz and he says all that stuff was stolen, not sold and he'd like it sent back to me.

I'll be sure to pass it on to him....

PM me for my address. :D:D:D
