That's the same guy that put a supercharged V12 Merlin 27-liter aircraft engine in a '55 Chevy. 3000+ streetable hp. He hasn't been in the states long from what I gather
I know where the carb is hidden...but did he attach those dummy valve covers to the SBC with the outer sparkplugs?
Please say you are joking! That is a gen-u-wine ( ) Boss429 and both Superchargers are operational. Rod builds cars with real motors not with tacked on gimmicks
Yessssss...I'm TOTALLY joking! But you know how it works...give it 6 months and SOMEBODY will have done it! LoL What is that motor in Rods truck? From the head bolt spacing I'd say a flathead something?
phew! yeah someone will come up with a fake setup yup it's a flathead of the Lincoln V12 kind. I took some photos of the pickup last year when Rod drove it 1500 odd miles to attend Wintersun so it ain't to trailer pansy
Hate to bust the Cherry guys but the 429 set up is how do you say little bit ********.... But it sure looks good it is a 429 the blowers dont really blow and there is EFI under the blower manifold
Kinda figured thats what it was but I've never actually seen one. I lean towards being a little more subtle in styling but that IS a neat rig. 1500 miles is amazing! The guy obviously has the game figured out. Damn...I know that must sound out of this world when the revs come up! What else is he wrenching on?
Not meaning to doubt you QQMOON but if the blowers don't work then the reported 7.5:1 compression would also be ********? Still, it is a wild ride
There's no carb hidden anywhere, both blowers are real and in full working order. Likewise the engine is a genuine Ford factory hemi. To make run was a challenge but the owner builder, Mr Rod Hadfield is a pretty clever and resorceful bloke who finally figured out that by adding a second set of injectors beneath the blowers, it could be made to idele just fine. The big engine drives thru a Doug nash five speed manual box to a Frankland quickchange. The car is legally licensed here in Oz and driven regulalrly. It's basd on a sketch rod did in his schoolbooks back when he was a kd. Took him a long time to build it but he's pretty persistent. And yes, that's him and his wife Carol in the background and yes, he's also the guy with the blown Merlin engine in his street legal '55 Chevy, painted to resemble the fighter plane the engine was originally used in. The A pick-up has a lincoln V12 and was built using the best old parts rod couold scrounge up locally here in Oz.
Even if it was fake, doesn't alter the fact that Rod built it, licensed it and is driving the ****er around America, and YOU didn't and are not having as much fun as Rod and caroll are right now!
Carps...lighten up ya fawkin' lamb lovin' ******* and have someone read ALL the posts to you BEFORE you respond or I'll give ya a size 10 right in the ****! Nice to see ya drop in for a change! I was joking about the hidden carb etc, but at least it pulled you outta the woodwork! LoL
It's an aussie car owned by Rod Hadfield, Renown rip off merchant and dodgy conversion kit manufacturer, He pays off people to get his cars regod. Cars tough but it ****s the serious guys because he has the authorities in his back pocket, we have strict gidelines that we have to build to in oz. He has a seperate set of rules. Yes me and a few mates have been ripped off by him.
Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi Yeah that 55 chevy is pretty siiiiiick maaaaate It is a rolls royce merlin v12 first designed in the 1930. There was minor ch***is and firewall mods needed here is a pic...
http://www.rodshop.com.au/projectratrod.htm [edit] damn less than 1 minute apart... I want to use one of their ****** adapters to put a Toyota/Lexus 1UZ DOHC V8 in my '63 Comet...
His adapter kits are renown for not fitting, When you ring to question he will tell you you don't have what you first told him. We have had the problems with kits for all types of cars, fords holdens even toyotas. be careful he doesn't give refunds. The problem is he is the only person who supplies anything of this nature, I suggest you have a lok at his then make your own, His workmanship is fine, but his attention to detail has alot to be desired.
Is this guy in the States right now? I saw that T on the 405 freeway on my way to Bolsa Chica beach on Sunday! I was tripping out on that thing. Didn't get that good of a look, I was driving and traffic was pretty bad.
I brought a supercharger kit from him for my Commodore ute and it did not fit. I rang and spoke to him and he said that there were two different mounts available for the conversion and that he would send me the other mounts. He never asked what mounts i had and when the new ones arrived arrived they were the same as the original mounts sent. So I continued to use the original mounts which I had modified to work. I like the look of the ratrod but the T coupe while being a nicely built car is too over the top for my liking. I have seen extensive articles on the 55 Chev and while it is a great piece of engineering it does nothing for me at all.
Yes, he sold his business and sold off a lot of his vehicles. He took the T coop, the rat rod and the 55 to the USA and is doing the show/rod run scene with them. There was talk of Jay Leno wanting to buy the 55.
I think it was my email that alerted him actually....... Careful mule....this is not the place for drama (particularly since Rod no longer owns CRS).
Yeah, thanx for that. ;-) I have no problem with criticism when it's based on fact or personal experience, it's moreso some of the at***udes displayed here that annoy me and cause me not to participate here as much as I used to. Fact is it seems I don't fit the right mould and it's therefore not so much fun reading the constant sniping and *****ing about everything that's wrong with our hobby. Of course I do still participate actively in a few threads/discussion groups that are of high interest to me.
Yup, I believe the pics at the top of the thread were shot in the US, evidenced by the black & white police car in the bacground, which we don't have anwywhere in Oz. I guess that at least proves the car aint no trailer queen.
I've never had that problem with anything i've got from CRS. However, I've had more than a few repro parts from many suppliers that required modification in order to make them fit the way I wanted them to (Correctly?). Often seems funny that we lose track of the fact that we are dealing with modified parts and expect things that were never meant to be used together to simply bolt up using a fabricated adapter just because it's from a reputable source. I've got two mint original doors on my 'mint original and unmolested '33 Ford that don't fit anything like the originals that were accidentally damaged. So should I complain to the Ford Motor company? I don't see how that can be a problem. Hmm, and then return the part you looked at and copied for credit? Could he not have a good business related reason for not giving refunds?
