I do, I do, I do (hand raised above head). .040 over 340 H.P. short block, ported/polished 461X heads, studs, roller rockers, mechanical flat tappet cam and kit, Edelbrock C3BX, 750 Holley, single point distributor, rams horn exhaust manifiolds. This is the engine going in my 56 Sedan Delivery. It was originally in my old FED with a different intake, cam, and tunable ****** dragster headers; 9.23 E.T. at 146 MPH. That engine was also in my truck for a very BRIEF period of time while I got another engine together. The 327, now 333, is my half devil motor (1/2 of 666). It's a small journal, but I have a 4 bolt 350 standard bore block, a forged large journal 327 crank, and the factory NOS standard bore, .125 dome/10.35:1 pistons, and another set of 461 heads (these are'nt "X" heads though), ready to go together when time presents itself. Put me down for one vote for the 327. Butch/56sedandelivery.
64 block .060 bore zero decked ,main studs trw 2211 floated dome pistons, angle milled ported 292 angle plug heads,man-a-fre intake, solid flat tappet 248,251 @.050 .561,.572 lift th350 acc 10inch 3500 stall 4.30 gear runs good and reliable.
I've got a few in need of rebuild, and another one that someone made from a 283 block that is still in good shape, but I think I'll change crank and pistons in that one and make it a 301 since I have the parts and I love's me a 301!!!
Somebody's gonna win our Shakedown Give-Away motor... 327+.030, TRW pistons, 327/350 HP cam. 10/10 steel crank, Edelbrock intake, balanced, ARP rod bolts, new carb. Not sure on the heads yet... we're still looking thru what we've got available. This will be a running engine complete from carb to pan... drop it in and go...
Got one in my 64 Nova that I will be pulling out someday to put it into a Model A someday and have had several 327's. Great motor for light cars. My current one is .040 over, with an Isky cam, TRW flat tops, camel hump heads, balanced, blue printed, torker manifold, 750 holley, with Fender well headers. It screams like a Banchie ..... what ever that is.
Man only COOL Guys run 327's! Just kidding but I'm Biased as it is the finest ofering GM ever made. I have a '67 327 that started life in a 67 Dumptruck. Rebuilt it and run the poop out of it every chance I get. It's now in a '54 Chevy with a 4 speed and 2x4's a mystery cam and it hauls the car and family around just fine. High revving great engine for sure. Tim
ive got a 300hp 327 with the smaller chamber cammel hump heads and thats a i know about it aside from the fact that it was in the car when i bought it and its the only small block i will ever run in my cars from now on i love this little devil
I have been running one in my 40 Ford for 30 years. It has well over 100,000 miles on it. Nothing racy here, just a mild "torque" Crane cam, double hump heads, Performer intake, fenderwell headers, and a Holley spread bore. It ain't pretty (I never open the hood) but it runs great and gets 20-21 MPG on the road. I used to pull a little pop up camper with it, I didn't even know it was back there!
62 327-340 sphp ---62 327-300---65 327-350 L-79---67 327-275 nova block---68 327-350, how sweet they are, double humps are cool on other things also...283's and 302's are also in my line up, Chevy did it right with the color too.
Had some pretty good times back in the early 80's in a piece together 67 Camaro with a small journal 327. It was 40 over w/flat top 10.5:1 pistons. Did a spare Bedroom (my shop at the time) port & polish job on a set of double hump heads w/all the cool parts and 1.94 s.s. valves (rarely shifted past 7500 rpm's). Ran a Crane Commander solid lift cam (nice & lumpy), and a c3bx intake w/ a 650 holley. Car ran good for a daily driver, but like any young gear head I wanted to make it run better, so a strip dominator, holley 750, spooled 12 bolt w/ 513's, aluminum flywheel, hemi 4 speed, frame connectors, car ran 12.0's @ 4700 ft. It was a good set of slicks away from the 11's before I sold the car in 1988, however I did get to keep that little 327, and it's been sniffing around the shop for a new home.
She is gonna be a huffer a few adjustment more before launch time!! Peace brother .......27 are rat killers!
<<< 327 out of a 66 vette, 350?hp, 3 carbs, muncie 4-speed, 3:23 posi, WOW what fun!!! Put lots of miles on 'er, still runs strong.
1969 Large Journal 327. Bottom end still as-***embled by GM factory workers in 1969 (but starting to show it's age). 64cc heads from a 1996 GM 300hp 350 HO machned for 2.02/1.60 valves and equipped w/ LT4 Valvesprings / retainers. Reed 264/272, 214/218 @ 0.050", .450/.460, 110LSA cam. GM ZZ4 intake, Q-jet, Hedman 1.5" headers. Installed in a Chevy II. Great mild street combo, with just enough of a hint of an idle to let you know it isn't stock. Pulls hard from idle to 5500 rpm. Powerglide and 3.08 gears are hurting me for now, but next year the car is getting an M20 Muncie. Should be plenty fun then. I set out to build a mild, reliable, strong running combo that gets decent MPG. I'm happy with the results.
My vote is you'll be nowhere close, but good luck. BTW, your carb has 850 hp? Now that's impressive. You don't even need the rest of the motor if you're getting that much horsepower out of your carb alone.
HA HA ! 850 hp series holly is the carb ! not horsepower LOL ! I have been and seen hotter 327 than mine running better hp than I,m claiming? look @ the factory hp and then consider my specs I,m pretty close ! Car Craft had a spred last summer and it was just under my stats and was @ 580 hp and close to 450 torque ? I guess we will see soon.
The 283 in my 55 2 dr wgn is starting to smoke and foul plugs. So I freshened up this 69 327 it has a 30 30 cam and 57 stagger bolt fulie heads. I am going to replace the hedders with corvette large ram horns. Im still undecided as what intake and valve covers i will use. I have used the C4B Edelbrock on a 283 bored .060 and it did real good with a AVS carter from a 440 chrysler. Have also used the corvette intake on a 283 with two 600CFM edelbrock carbs mounted with adaptors. It would bog for a few seconds if you hammered it too quickly. its backed by a 4 speed and a 9 inch with 411 gears. I have three more 327,s 1 small journal and two large journal. Old Wolf
Well, if it's real I want one! My (very cursory) math says you'll probably have to peak at about 7500 to achieve that, though.
man thats some old school terms...3/4 cam and camel humps. Nothing wrong with it....just sounds like 1967 to me.
I have a 327 30 over .125 pop up 2 valve releave pistons, 30 30 duntov cam, 202 fuelies 62 cc, 780 double pumper, RPM air gap,5.38 gears turbo 350, all of this in my 64 biscayne I race 26 tire, shift at 7000, Love the little motor, 10-25-09 at the track ran7.66 @ 87.80 1/8 mile drag terre haute, IN, temp 62 degrees Gary M
I must be out of the HiPerformance a long time What is a 5 angle Valve Job?? I ran Pro Stock many Moons ago & there was Only 3 Angle Valve Job! I just run a Stock 63 327/300 hp with the Powerslide in my Merc also I would like to see a Engine Dyno sheet on that engine to show the HP just my 3.5 cents
qparaschos How much did the Blue Print job Cost you?? I know what it Cost me when I did my Race Car Engine!
i built a 1962 small journal 327 with 90 corvette alum. heads and a 350-350hp hyd. cam -edelbrock 600cfm carb. she run strong. its in my 1953 chev 5 window pickup.
