but they probably won’t pick up from a private residence .
Ask the seller what They are willing/capable to do and go from there .[/QUOTE]

Majority of LTL regional carrier terminals here in the States have 24' straight box trucks with lift gates just for places without docks including residential deliveries and pickups. It's still cheaper if the shipper can get the item to the terminal. The seat will need to be crated and there is no guarantee that the dockworkers won't set something heavy on it or crush it with a forklift trying to get that last two inches of floorspace.

In one big piece, that seems about right. But if you take the backs off, and the tracks and side panels off, would just the base section go under the 130? Might be tight, but if it would, it'd be easy to put the other stuff in another box or two and ship it all by UPS, just in multiple separate boxes. It's a very easy seat to dis***emble, unless it's one of those 4 door seats where the back doesn't fold. Then you've got to drill out spot welds to get it apart.

Do you have any friends that might work at the Toyota dealership? I had someone here on the HAMB buy a door from me. He arranged everything and had me drop it off at my local Toyota dealer and they got it to the dealership where he worked. Don't know how it was done

That’s a bummer. I’ve received a few cowls etc over the years through greyhound. It was always an adventure going to the bus station.

  5. No experienced vehicle transporter who
is an actual business that carries insurance
    will schedule transport along the
    I-80/I-90/I-94 corridor during a normal
winter - let alone a particularly bad Winter
like the one that is going on now.

I have been in business since 2006
    transporting vehicles year round
to areas of the country as
    safe driving conditions allow.

I have been waiting in Central California
now for a week waiting for a series of
record setting storms to p*** so I can drive
up the I-5 corridor to Seattle, WA to pick up
a vehicle headed to Austin, TX.

I transport parts along routes anchored
by vehicle transport subject to availability.

But - with over 12 million miles of paved
roads in the lower 48 states - the odds
of me having space along a route that
    someone needs parts transported along
when they would like them transported
    is slim at best.

If you are not willing to wait until the
Spring when the threat of winter weather
driving conditions has ended and an
    experienced vehicle transporter will
possibly be hauling along that route …

Then I suggest you find a seat closer to home.

  6. Jim; Thanks for chiming in here. Any and all shipping information is why I put this post up. I totally understand the weather effect on our road haulers. Getting a seat for my project is in no way more important than a driver's safety. Yes, this West Coast weather has been nutz this winter.
I now know what Air Freight would cost. I don't see me going that route. I have 2 commercial over the road shipper's cost. Better but Holy Smoke's! And I'm not trying to be Cheep here. It seems to be that Mississippi river thing. Finding anything seat closer to home seems to only be what I cl***ify as S**** Iron. Yes, I'm well-seasoned in doing that kind of work. Not at all interested in doing that for my personal projects. I know Fun cost Money and I want my *** to be having Fun when I'm right pedaling my 40. A quality seat is what I'm dealing on. I understand the Freight is going to make me swallow hard. Once I pay for it, it won't hurt anymore.
So tell me Jim, Givin an open calendar how would you handle my package coming from Northern Michigan to basically Portland Oregon?

  8. I am not implying that you are cheap.

The odds of me transporting a vehicle along
that route are slim at best so I am not
    a realistic option.

I try to serve customer demand
for folks who are realistic about
    the actual cost of operating
    a business transporting vehicles.

COVID has had an impact on how
all freight is moved in the lower states.

    Freight Logistics has dramatically changed.

Fastenal Third Party Shipping is now
Blue Line Freight and has split into two zones
that generally do not transfer cargo
    between the East & West.

Fastenal has closed hundreds of stores
    and essentially stopped third party
freight shipping it was losing money
    on for years.

    Relatively economical shipping options
like Greyhound have suspended or ceased
operating due to the unprecedented costs
of operating equipment - paying wages
    and fueling vehicles.

If you can’t find a suitable seat closer to
you and time is a factor - then you are going to
have to choose a shipper from your research.

I would fully crate it & insure it for at least
200% actual replacement cost ( shipping included ).
