I thought I was fast for a time, having learned on Dads three on the tree 49 Chevy,an drove some 55 Fords that were fairly fast, but then Dad got a brand new Ply Valent with 3 speed floor shifter, after some time he did finiely let me drive it an I was thinking WOW a floor shifter. I make the run too our car hop drive inn hangout to show the guys this new thing with the new layed over 6cly an floor shifter. Well OK the body we did think a bit ugly, but hay it was a new design motor an 3 on the flooor. All was well tell my buddy said lets go around the block an see what it can do? So off we went,an I gave it a speed shift from 1 to 2,,, well I never found 2,the lever just kept right on going tell it was laying on the floor under the dash////O-shit now I'm in the shitter big. Played around an did fix it,fuuuwy, but never tryed that again. That cars floor shifter was a POS,but it did have a neat new Alt. insted of a gen.

Martin US131, 1960's. A guy from Holland Mich had a 38 Chevy gasser with a 4speed. I'm not sure if it was the 'Dandelion'. He always amazed me with his shifting abilities - as a post above mentioned, his shifting sounded like a hydro auto! I was a teenager and maybe my memory is like a fish story but I'd say he was as good or better than the videos posted here. Anyone here remember him, his name may have been Darrel or Dwayne, lived on 120th Ave?

Its on an actual video tape, I have no CLUE as to how to get it on a computer. I also have a movie of the '64 US nationals with in-car footage of Dave Strickler.

Friend of mine (who is now a well-known local drag racer) did the same thing in his Datsun 510.

All told, there were a TON of guys who could work the 4-gear like a surgeon. Local hero's, regional champs, & national super stars. The ones who's names keep popping up here are just the most well known. At that level, there were no second-stringers. Every one of 'em were a master at the craft. If I were to vote though, I'd probably say Sox, just because he was so damn cool to boot.

So has it been called out as whether a H pattern or V gate shifter is being used?
I liked my comp/plus better than the super shifter.
