Lots of things led me to the HAMB...
JustinM told me to sign up, after I had been lurking for a few months. (I've also know SamIyam since Jr High.) I started out on here as "BilletProof_J" when I used to do the show with Kirk, but changed the name to Jive a while later.

I used to frequent the Jalopy Journal and Hot Rod Deluxe sites way back.
Also got my Lincoln featured in TSR #2 - Thanks Jason!

Made lots of good friends here, including Ryan, and the people on this site really helped my make some decisions in building my roadster.

    Thanks all!

BTW, I've heard so much mention of RRT over time, and keep forgetting to ask what RRT is, would be interested in checkin' it out, by the sounds of it.
After being on the HAMB for awhile, I met a HAMB'er in- person - Purple, at last year's Kool April Nights. It was surreal and funny to talk back and forth, in-person, about messageboard names.
Hard to explain on a messageboard, but sitting in a diner, y'figure either it sounds weird to the waiter/waitress, or they're on some web board, too, just nodding to themselves.

I found it from a link from "Mart's Real Hot Rods." I don't remember how I found his site. Thanks Mart.

I had met Denise thru another site and she told me about the HAMB. I lurked awhile, then I posted an intro, with a picture of my truck. I caught some shit, and the photochoppers went nuts on it because of the 17 and 20 inch
    bling-blings on it........
Thanks for building this place Ryan. It kicks ass.

  6. You guys are gonna hate this, but...

Came across it a couple years ago being mentioned in a VW magazine from Great Britain... [IMG]

  7. As is the case with many who share my registration date, I, too, was a regular on the old RRT (still have my 'T'shirts).
And as with C9, I wandered over after someone else gave mention, just to see.
At first, I opened my big yap, and was shut down by Ryan, but I learned, and, I hope, have helped in time as well.

  9. found it on my own surfing the web for car stuff...
found it "refreshing", but I forgot about it...
then I was reminded about it by Tommy at Latimore last year and I've been here more or less since then.

I enjoy reading the posts on this board more than I should really... but it can be an absolute blast. + the cars!!!

    the RRT...

which i found on google when i was searching for information on the lexus 4 litre V8 that's going into one of my projects... of course, Carps had a few big long posts on the subject (being that it's built by his all-time favourite car company), and thus i was introduced to all the various sites i now frequent (the RRT, the HAMB, and the AusHotRod forum...)

I clicked on the link while checking out the old HRD or CKD website. I guess I should have lurked a while before I signed up to get the feel of the board, my second posting wasn't the best [IMG]. But I tell ya I wouldn't trade this place for the world, there's alot of really great people here. I just wish I could help out more. later plmczy

I was stumbling around the web one dark and cold night in December,
the door was open, lights were on,
torch was lit and in I crept. [IMG]

  19. Came over from the old RRT< when the fued was going on between Mr.Bill and the HAMB. The good Doctor recommended a daily dose of HAMB, that be Dr.J. Been here ever since never was hammered like later arrivals almost felt like a vestal virgin being welcomed into the fold.,

  20. I would have to thank Mart of Mart's Real Hot Rods.......

My brother-in-law found the HAMB maybe two years ago. He kept ranting about it, and tried a dozen times to get me to check it out, but from his description, it didn't sound too interesting.

Then, one night...I peeked in to see what was up. There was a huge post going on about manual trannies vs automatics, so I jumped in with my commentary...just sticking my toe into the pirhana tank to see if they REALLY bite!

I got called out and had some fun, then posted a brief but forgettable intro.

It's been good times and lotsa fun for the most part since then!

(And my brother-in-law is STILL a lurker...da CHICKEN!! [IMG])

been here since there were less than 300 people around. a LLOOOONNNNGGGG time ago. have seen a lot of names come and go. still remember the great "flame war" with one of the RRTers.

can't remember how i actually got here but just dropped in and started posting. some of the old razings for newbies used to be really brutal. if shiva 69 is still around ask about his intro time.

how many still remember the pokey-mon board?

or the great oil channge "how do i get the drain plug out?" thread?

We knew about the board, but never had time to get involved,literally....One day TOYGHOUL said that Franco was torching Moldy and that was too good to pass up.....then, like a shark feeding -frenzy, someone calls out Franco and someone hollers for GERM...not only was this hilarious,it was free!
There were so many familiar faces here,we joined....made many new pals and a few GOOD BUDDIES....

I was looking at the Jalopy Journal. I found the HAMB 1st version but I was pc retarded at the time. I had no idea what a message board was or how it worked. I came back later after getting some experience through aol hotrod chatrooms. Anyone remember the "roadtoads"?

I came back and never left....I don't even remember what the date was I signed on...I'll hafta look.

A link from Mart's Hot Rods web site. A couple years ago ran into this chaotic site but didn't sign in. When I finally tried to get in, some computer leprechauns wouldn't let me. After about two weeks of this crap, I emailed this dude named Ryan. He helped me straighten out the leprechauns and now I too am a member of his cult. [IMG]

I'm another one who was introduced to the HAMB by Dennis O'Brien. It was the email about Richard Samsons Death that first made me aware of the hamb. I lurked for a short time then joined up. Glad to be aboard. Now if I can only get more space and get to working on my nailhead powered 28 A sedan. But at least the parts keep on coming in.
