New to the H.A.M.B and was told about this page so here I am. First question-Is the 53' suppose to be a positive or negative ground? The way I bought the car they have it negative, but its all original wiring. Will it hurt something to go to positive? Next is I am in need of some vent window seal kits. Lower seal is dry and shrunk and pulled away so water can now get into the door. I am in need of a wiring harness. The factory one still works to all amazement but has quite a few bare spots and getting pretty brittle. I want to keep the car 6 volt and prefer not to use a generic harness. Where in the green earth can you find a pinion seal for the war case 9"? Thanks a million times over in advance. I feel like I hit a wall trying to find a place to answer these questions.
1953 6 volt were positive ground you could switch it back by reversing the leads and polarizing the regulator, but there would be no advantage by changing it.The original wire harnesses sold by aftermarket vendors will cost about double that of a generic and the originals do not have a fusebox circuit which was a poor design.Rebel Wire has a 6 volt harness available:http://rebelwire.com/rebel-wire-products.php?cat=Wire%20Kits When you call them let them know you are a HAMB member for a discount,if you have a problem with your install they are as near as your phone for tech help.Actually these harnesses are EZ to use each wire is labeled every 6" as to where they go so that eliminates the guesswork. If you still want to go the old route on wiring and for a vent window and seal source give these folks a call:http://cgfordparts.com/
