Good work Cam, be nice if you could run a separate build thread for your coupe.
Sure be easier to follow amongst all the other general posts.

Any ways I look to seeing you at the Roundup.

Started by the Tardels, will be heavily refined and finished by me.

  3. FiftyV8-- I can't keep up with the pace of the typical HAMB build thread. If you look at the links below on my post I've got a blog on my Tall T that you can follow. It just isn't on the HAMB. I'm too damn slow to keep HAMBers interested. We've decided we're going to go to the Lone Star Round Up without vending for the first time in years. More time to walk around and visit with old friends. I'll be in my HotRodShiftKnob.com T-shirt and I'm pretty hard to miss at 6'-5". Kind of make you understand why I'm building my T tall. Hope to see you at LSRU.

    OK build thread understood.
I'll keep an eye out for you or see you at Charlies later.
I can also be ID'ed by my T shirt (check this post for my shirt characteristics), grab me if you see me wandering around.

  5. Got it. Red polo shirt with a distinctive logo. I'll be looking out for you. If we don't cross paths at LSRU, definitely @ Charlie's on Sunday. See ya there.

Me and my old man are putting together this little flatty powered modified. Got most of the stuff needed to get cracking on it so had a quick mock up.

The beauty of a tall T.....IS THE TALL TOP....take that away and you might as well buy you a 29 coupe and chop it....chop it....ruin it.

Here's a whole different approach. I built this years ago, with a chromed Jag rear, tube axle front, and a hot Pontiac 4 cylinder with super duty head and sidedraft Webers. Installed original pinstriped wool interior. Body was untouched.

Have to agree, there are plenty of examples of very good looking Ts that have been chopped.

The stock height top is good for a stocker but looks way too tall for a hot rod.

WTF is going on around here lately???
Seems every damn build thread guys are saying to NOT chop the top (or channel the body)......regardless of whether it's a coveted '32 3W or a tall T or a '50 Ford....

    Agreed!
I'm tired of people assuming that the perceived value of a car decreases when its radically changed in some traditional way.
A car has many values other than simply money...or at least it SHOULD to a real Hot Rodder!

Seems silly to me that its OK to completely change the stance, chassis, powertrain etc of a T, yet to get chastized for doing a clean chop!

I'd be hated completely...because if it was mine the top would be stood on end out behind the shop...:D:D:D

Here's my old 27' and I sold it for WAY more than restored stockers were bringing at the time.

I wish... all my buddies bailed out on me... so I decided to take it out of gear and coast for a while. I'm still working on it, but I won't make it to LSR this year. Picking up a few pieces from the paint shop, and have my vinyl in and putting a glass order in with ChrisBlattie here on the hamb... Might be going to paint soon though!! :D

  23. You're closer than I am, Chaddilac. Mine frames going to be hanging from the rafters at Mercury Charlie's during LSRU. Do you think you'll be at the show? I've decided to go just as a spectator for the first time in years. Usually we're vending our shift knobs. Maybe we should attempt a T owners beer chug during the event.

  24. Recent pic of my '27...

To chop or not to chop, that is the question. It's got nothing to with value. I didn't buy my coupe to re-sell even though I've had 3 offers in the year I've owned it including the guy that sold it to me. It's the look. A tall T has that crazy kinda 60's look with going totally Munsters Coach.

Why didn't you chop it 4 more inches? Now be honest, how much fun was that to drive for more than 3 minutes. Not lookin for a battle, Just sayin.

LOL, more fun than you could imagine I guess unless you've actually driven a car like for any period of time it seems a little scary. It took a little getting used to, but it wasn't bad at all.
It was my daily driver while I owned it. The only reason I sold it was because I was ETSing out of the Army and needed a "buffer" to support my family during transition, and looking back I really wish I hadn't. There were only two things that bothered me about it being my daily driver.

    1) I was living in central TX back then and random showers were not uncommon so I'd always have to carry plastic bags to put over the carbs when it rained.

    2) It needed turn signal, because it was a bitch to get your arm in and out of the quarter window for hand signals.

One time I got pulled over by a cop in Killeen, when I asked what I did wrong then produced my paperwork, the cop said "relax brother I just wanted to get a closer look at your bitchin' little car". Good Times
