Chop it / don't chop it! Everyone has their own opinin and likes/dislikes - it's what makes the world go round. Do any of you here on the HAMB really give a Rats ass what someone else thinks of your build? Build it the way you want to build it! I just like looking at all the different ideas. If you care - mine's gonna be whacked!

Got a little more done on my T. Working on rear suspension, narrowing up a '38 Deluxe dash, reskinning the decklid and the panel below it. Chopped the Deuce shell 6"

Just got the New Mac's Antique Auto Part catalog for the model A and they have complete doors for the 1928-'29 pickup which are the same as the 1926-'27 T- coupe doors. They aren't cheap at $1375.00 each but they are "NEW". Maybe this will help someone. I'm still leaning toward building molds off a set of good Model A pickup doors and making mine out of fiberglass to save weight.

  12. good tip on the doors but man is that spendy.

Why do all that when you can find perfect original doors around swapmeets for around $1,000 each or less and they usually have latches, hinges and trim attached.

Still sounds expensive I know, but still the best way in my book to proceed.
Sure gives you more free time to spend on your project as well you can be sure they will fit...

Pretty simple - I just cut out the original floor and supports leaaving a flange about 2" wide all around the outside edge - it just happens to be about 2 3/4" above the bottom of the body so it pretty much hides the 2x3" tube frame.

I think I posted these early in this thread

Quite correct, I did check and you did post a similar pic, but always nice to have more. I am trying to get enough inspiration to do a channel job on my T coupe.
Never done one before, so looking at work by others on the same model body is a big help.

Thanks for the ideas, I raised the deck and added a roll pan. Also reduced the size of the tunnel..Looks like dad is checking out the progress.

They can also be bought from Snyders. They are made in Austrailia by Waldens Hot Rods I believe. You can google 28-29 New Model A pickup doors and find them. They come from their repop bodies they make.

oooooooohh, that's nice! Wasn't sure how I'd like a chopped full fendered T but that one is very cool. Had a couple of "spuds" made to adapt the 4 bar adjuster to the '35 Ford wishbones and got a piece made to straighten out the V'd '38 Dash - still need to add the ends to make it fit the T but it's coming along.

Say, can any of you guys help me out with the rear axle mounting distance for a "T" spring? The spring measure's 38" center to center on the eyes. How far apart should I weld the mounts on the axle? Thanks

  29. Did anyone take shots of Mercury Charlie's T in his booth at the Lone Star Round Up?
I'd been holding off on talking about it until it hit the show. Tell me that thing isn't badass. The no bolt hole valve covers. The plug wire covers. The headers. The gauges. The chop. The Boranni wire wheels. The custom grill. Man has he put in some sweat and tears to make that things the bomb. Let's hear from those who saw it in person and see shots if any of you took any. Surely someone took some pics!
