Thanks, I guess I better get off my hiney and start a build thread. I've hesitated to do so because I rarely get time to work on this thing. It's taken me almost 2 years to get to this point.
LOL, yea, I might have to hinge it in the middle to get around corners.....

What length wheel base distance do you anticipate?
My T pickup is 116" and that was as long as I wanted.
I shortened the box a few inches and recessed the firewall a tad to help achieve a balanced look.

Here is some pic's of my chassis.

I'm not sure. I drug a tape across it the other day but I can't remember the #'s. 120" sticks in my head but I'm not sure if that's what I estimated for the T or if that's the long bed Dodge in the background in my pics (we had a few celebratory frosty beverages and my head was getting a little fuzzy)
That big Packard is pretty long, heck, the head is right about 34"

Good work man, I see you started your own build thread now and I look forward to seeing your progress.
I was told upto 120"s is OK for a long wheel base, but no longer, they start bottoming out on too much stuff and get hard to turn easily.
Still be great for long straight highway cruising and will feel like riding in 60's Cadillac.
Just stay off winding roads and narrow track I say...

  6. So I'm sitting in the seat one Sunday afternoon about three months back. The seat, as I showed on post #1684, sits well back in the cabin, so far back that I was hanging my arm out the rear quarter window.......

WHAM! BAM! POWEE! A light goes off!!!

I started laughing to myself and decided to make the rear quarter windows go up and down!

Gotta have FUN building a car, right?

Well, there's more to the story.......

I wanted to hide the means of raising and lowering the windows, so I decided to use a Dolphin power window operator. However, the window was too tall to fit the operator.....,

SO I CHOPPED IT AFTER ALL.........but only one inch!!!! This gave me two inches at the bottom so the operator would fit:

This is WAYYYY too much FUN!

I put the seat back as far as I could to make room for the 3 pedals and intend to head out to the Salt next August. Comfort is important........even in a chopped and channelled T!

Here's my T coupe. My brother said don't chop it and I got the windshield glass installed. Hated it. Car looked CUTE. Took out 7" for a mild chop and felt a lot better. Busted the glass but I don't care.

Don't forget the a/c out there on the salt if you want comfort.
Looks great, good balance from your pic's.

  13. Well, I have yet to be at Speed Week (3 times) with my A/C working right (it really has not been needed). Besides, with a windshield that swings open, 4 side windows that open, and the former gas filler on the cowl turned into a vent I think there should be enough fresh air circulating.........but maybe I should make the rear window glass removable......:cool::p

Great idea. Made me LOL but it is good thinking and will be totally unexpected.

  16. I'm workin' on ways to do the rear window..........no room to make it raise or lower, so gotta remove the glass from the frame.....

Another minor challenge is where to hide the power window switches on a traditional rod.;);)
