This one has just followed me home, I bought it from a restorer & when he told his wife it was going to be a hot rod she got very excited!
(He was ok with the idea too btw) I hope it will be hot rod enough for her! Plans are Banger either on a T or an A chassis.

Just binged on this thread. Why I didn't see it before is a mystery. There's not a single one I wouldn't mind driving. Anyway, here's the Whatever project that I'm still working on. 20220716_225355.jpg Cross between an early track roadster and a East coast dirt modified.

Been waiting for this thread to come back to life haha. Here’s some pics of my T. Progress has been really slow because of work but about ready to weld in the rear crossmember. Don’t have an exact measurement of how much I shortened the frame. I left it slightly longer than stock T wheelbase to get the front wheels nice and tucked into the front fenders since it sits so much lower than stock. Also, everything I’ve read said T frames are 100” but I kept getting 99” on my original frame.

There's got to be other people building T's still.

Pulled this T out of an estate sale in California. Been working on it for about a year now. At this point I just need to bleed the brakes and should be able to drive it around the yard.

This was a survivor T and will definitely never be buying a survivor hot rod again haha. The body was channeled by taking a hammer to the wheel wells and stick welding it to the frame after torch cutting anything in the way. The body has cracks from driving down the road I believe, but a little DA sanding and a rustoleom rattle can job will do for now because I hate patina.

I lucked out on the flathead though. The flathead has adjustable lifters and a mild re ground cam in it, and looks to be rebuilt by someone with the initials "Dc" from the LA area. If anyone knows of said flathead builder let me know, it looks like it was done well, and the signature is distinct. It's crazy because one of the 'ears' on the intake/exhaust port near the intake manifold looks to be brazed and then machined to spec. It was stuck when I got it but a little marvel's mystery oil, a breaker bar, and after wiring it, it started right up. It sounds bitchin.

Basically everything on this car I redid because it was just crude; I.e. the 40 spring that was jammed into the model a crossmember that sheared the U bolts when I went to replace the rear shackles because of the tension on them. Or the 1/4" C channel 'crossmember' that was welded to an 1/8" 48 ford transmission mount. Or brake and clutch pedal master cylinder that was bolted to the 1/8" firewall. The flat steel firewall which was welded to the body, then welded to the frame (there are cracks around the firewall, probably from driving). They must've had a good time in this car though because the clutch had/has burn marks on it, as well as the axle (not housing) seems to have a heat tinge to it. There was a decent amount of chrome on this car too, but it was so far gone I wanted to paint over it.

As long as the flathead doesn't leak water out of an exhaust port or something weird I will get a smaller radiator and get a T grill shell for the front. If the flathead is bad I will put a 265 or 283 sbc in it. I might have to leave the body welded to the frame just to keep the essence of the car. This is my first hot rod and it's crude, but that's what hot rods are for. I can't wait to build my next one, which will almost certainly be a model T.
