Rickman was one of the few Petersen guys that they let write and photograph. In the late 60s those 2 jobs were becoming 2 different career paths at Petersen. Writing was easy. They had copy editors to clean stuff up. You'd get your photos back from Bob D'Olivo with red grease pencil marks on what not to do next time. The better a photographer was the more critical he was. A great learning experience.
