That's my friend Ron Richardson with his tanker the guy with his foot on the tire). This is, essentially, his first trip down an actual land speed course, such as Maxton. He did take it to a local drag strip for some orientation, but no great speeds were achieved. He was just testing all the systems for safety and to see if things worked the way they were supposed to. I never realized how much work could be involved in building a land speed car and, especially, a tanker. WOW, what a complex project. I am so excited that he is finally down there running (we are from upstate NY) after three years of serious work. I hope all goes well. If anyone has any updates on how my friend Ron is doing, I would certainly appreciate seeing them here or in a PM.
Sorry, I can't remember any of his speeds. It's kind of hard to keep up sometimes. I'm usually having too much fun to remember more than a few speeds.
Scott, thanks for the pictures and video. Maxton is sure a lot of fun. I never get to see my car go off the line, Ha Ha! Steve Van Blarcom Owner of the Thacker and Shine car

Im shooting for the first meet of the season(2008). This will be my first time on a LSR course. I have a fair amount of drag experience, but Im sure this will be different. Still trying to shakedown car and finish it up. never any shortage of things to do. Hope to meet you all there.
Dang, that could be just about every guy there! Will you be wearing a t-shirt, shorts, sneakers and white socks? We need some help in identifying you and that should do it!!! Just busting on you man!
