We gave an award out, (Suede & Chrome I think) in Jacksonville to an old guy with a chopped and channeled coupe that he "started" in 1954. He still has it, and told me that he's never had it in paint, and it'll never be done....that's over 50 years. Super nice old couple...

  2. Had the basic car for about 9 years. Been collecting parts for about 12. Income tax refunds fund the big stuff, Been going to school since 2003 (and working full time), School will be done by Xmas. And a another income tax refund is due soon after that.:D Probably another year to make it streetable.

I had my roadster since 2001, and set a goal to be done in 2005. I was really close, maybe a few good weekends from driving mine.
and then Katrina kinda undid a few things: Water pushed the riding mower right through the car from back to front.
Its looking better now though, just about back where I was :)

  4. Gee Thanks for paying attension, It's NONAME now and 48 HEMI is the plate on my stalled project. I made the first cuts on Aug 19, 1993. thats 13 years for those short on fingers.

the good news is I found a parts car with what I've needed to finish and I'm dragging it home this coming saturday.

I'm also just about on the road with my current project the chopped, channeled, sectioned and strecthed 54 GMC.

still in the wings is my chopped and hardtopped 52 plymouth wagon and my 49 pontiac fastback.

I've sold 15 cars and projects and have atleast a dozen more to get rid of.

so in my defense it's always something that causes me to change focus my new thing is "keep the main thing, the main thing" I told myself in january that my my Hemi car was going down the road this year with or without me.

but if I wanted to enter the pissing contest I'd enter my 48 Buick Roadmaster sedanette that Istarted building in 1974

If I think about it, LimeWorks is working on an old steel-bodied Anglia with flathead power and Kelseys for a guy in his 80's who started it in either 1945 or 1948...either just before or right after he got back from the service. They have a small picture of it on their web site.

  9. had my fairlane scine I was about 14-15, now I'm 27 it out in the desert somewhere waiting to come home. A lot parts are new motor, electrics, brakes even tires, I just don't have time to drive out there and finish metalworking it.

Started my '68 Camaro project in 1989. My brother in law was helping with the body work. Had a couple of kids, worked a bunch on renovating an old house, got a divorce. I got to keep the car and the parts that I hid. She kept the body man.

Peddled the Camaro roller. I guess it's on the road now. I kept the Chevy SB, Muncie and Ford 9". Then I picked up a Deuce frame and a 29 sedan. So I guess it's technically been 17 years so far even though the project morphed a bit as I got older and wiser.

And another one...bought this 1996 and has gone through a couple incarnations since then...it's been in the garage for the last six months since I only get nights (no power tools) and one day on the weekend to work on it. It's kind of funny that it's almost at the point that the body work just needs to be massaged and then it can get painted. Almost makes me want to prime it drive it and not complete it for another 10 years :)

1st is 5 years ago right before our first little one
2nd is 3 years ago after painting it black to avoid non-op notices from the association
3rd is 2 months ago after getting most everything together to "finish" it....are they ever done?

Bought my '32 5w in the early 70's. Put it together on a dare and drove it 6 blocks in the late 70's. Been apart and stored since. I've collected some cool stuff for it. 1967 435 hp 427 Chevy, new Doug Nash 5 spd., Narrrowed and detailed (polished) Franklin Quick change with the quiet helical gear conversion, Dropped drilled and chromed I-beam axle with hairpins, So-Cal Buick finned drum/disc brake setup (polished), Full set of curved glass SW qauges, a full set of polished Halibrands, and probably a hundred little detail parts that will go into the build. Last time I checked it was no.4 on the list of waiting projects. My kid has promised to bring it out to the cemetery and do a burnout over my grave if he has to finish it after I'm gone.  :D

I have a friend who bought a '34 body & full chassis from Outlaw and worked on it continually for 17 years. No, he didn't let it sit, he worked on it all that time. I tease him that it went from "state of the art" to "ol school" by the time he got it on the road (last year). I put my Anglia together, drove it around the block once and parked it for 20 years. After retiring, I've redone it twice. Now I build a car a year and keep 'em all.

I've had this one for 7 years.

Its still a work in progress. Its still NOT done. I just recently began the process of taking the stupid rockabilly flames off of it and installing a teardrop hood scoop.

At some point, it will get a vicious stroker 302 (or 351) and a 9" rearend. Why a smallblock? Cause they are light and you can still get plenty of horses out of them.

This '48 Willys I've had for at least 5 years. Its been through 2 frames, two different engine choices, several beds....etc etc.

Its still in the works, but I'm closing in on its FINAL form.

Am I proud of how long its taken me???? NO. I'm not a perfectionist, I'm just slow and poor. :D

This '58 I've had for at least 2 years.

Its not exactly a project yet as I've not done any major modifications to it....

    Its in limbo.

It hasn't been my project the whole time but my 55 F-100 was last registered in 1971 and it was taken apart in 74, partially reassembled in 2000 and I bought 4 months ago, should be on the road by the end of the summer.
