Did it on my 66 Chevy truck, the only 4" tube i could get local was 10mm thick wall.....but really served the purpose & had two 100mm pieces cut at the supplier, just scribed around them in the desired position in the A arm cut the hole with a plasma cutter, dropped the tubes in position & welded from both sides of the A arm, made an end cap from some 4mm stock with a couple of notches cut out for the water to run out, welded them in & that was it.
Just put it back together & cut the rubber stops in half, i used dropped spindles too & it worked really well.

El Polacko did these at his shop this time last year. I didn't even understand what he was describing when he mentioned it. I think he stacked 3/8" bars for this setup and placed them between the spring pocket and the A arm, then just drilled them to where the rivet holes were and used bolts to hold it all together. This is my 55 Fairlane and it dropped about 1"-1.25" range. I didn't want anything drastic.
