I started with a 49 pickup 7RT block and put in a 52 Merc crank and rods, .30 over pistons, Potvin cam and necked down Chevy stainless valves. Rerouted the oiling thru a remote filter. Offy heads and intake, center carb is blocked off at present, running 97's. Hooked up to a S10 5 speed and the Ford truck clutch. You uncork the headers and it will make ya pee your pants.
mine next 4" crank, offy heads and intake, 3-97's, schneider cam. but it wont be in for long putting together a Navvaro High dome head motor for it
Ok. I can't resist it any longer. .8BA .060 over, running 37 tranny and holley 94's with the original ignition and advance. The ignition works perfectly and a great runner. This winters project in the works.. 59 AB with 3 bergs and a 39 tranny Should have it started up within a few weeks. Progress pics are soon.

Here's my 59A running late 8RT heads, 4" Mercury crank, a Thickstun PM-7 and Stromberg 97s. Speedway water pumps and stock ignition. Makes the old woodie hum on down the road!
Not built and running yet , but for a bit of variety here's whats going in my next project , and whats going on to spice her up a bit ( Thanks Clark ) ...
what a collection of fine ford flats..........dam id love to hear each one run!! nuthin sounds as good as a Flatty............!!
I'm humbled by all this fine flatty machinery! Mine's pretty tame; stock 8RT, 30 over, 2110 Y-block carb, no longer have the Fentons on it, running Red's headers.
Here's one of mine during the mock up stage. The block was fresh from the machinist and I just had to set some shiny stuff on it just to get an idea of things to come. . .
What kinda air cleaner is that? Have seen it a couple of times, looks kool! Heres mine with the old carburetors, its a brandnew, neverbefore assembled german block from the german army from 1962. Milled and relieved heads, ported intakes and a Almquist intake manifold. I run OEM heads, cause I like the looks........

46000 originl miles. Never been apart. Runs good. Oh yea its hooked to a merc, stick overdrive with toploader conversion, and runs to a 46 truck open driveshaft rear which has also never been rebuilt and runs great.
Really nice to see so many flatheads. I have been kind of stalled on my 31 Coupe and this thread has really got me excited again. Here is a pictures of the mock-up motor in the Coupe.
You might want to do something about those water hoses? It's not a good idea to have them at an angle like that and if you do, there should be a way to back-bleed the air out of them. Matt
I'm running a 51 merc motor. with sharp heads, fenton intake, uni lite with a msd box . and a 6 speed runs 16 .15 for now ? need to play with the insides but it runs so nice I hate to touch it ! drove it to the last race made 37 passes down the track won top eliminator and drove it home I love flatheads !.....
