I got the headliner and 59 Olds interior door trim installed. I just need to re-install all my interior mouldings and I should be good to go.

Dragster trailer is 60% done. stopping by HRCC to pick up some 2X4 steel to finish building it.

    It's going to be close.

Replaced all fuel hose, filter, and pump. Figured out why electric choke wasn't working, got the rear deck fastened back down, greased the slip joint, modified the heater controls so we can use them to switch from heat to defrost again, cleaned it up a little. Got it aligned today, they were able to get it in tolerance.

She's smoking something bad though. Blue through the pipes. Dead heads.

I hope BenD keeps his ears on this weekend!

    I always do!

Drove it to work today. Turned off the road, left onto 66, got up to 43 miles and hour and the steering wheel was trying to jump out of my hands. My plan was to get on 44 on my way to work. Quickly revised my plan, flipped a U and headed into Catoosa on 66, most of it's under construction so keeping the speed down was not an issue. Drove into BA on the backroads. Finally found someone to align it. They said the toe was 3 degrees out. Drove it home on the pike after work. Slight shimmy at about 83 now.

I can live with that. This engine doesn't have that many more RPM's in it.

Got it in the shop, built some kick panels, hid some speakers in em, installed them. Vaccuumed the pig out, adjusted the carb a bit. Realized the rear main is going by the stripes it lays down each time I start it. This probably accounts for the constant burning oil smell, some of it anyway. Looks like the oil gets flung onto the exhaust. Probably not as big an issue if I had a converter cover on it. Looked at the donor motor I'm about to start building and it still had a cover on the trans. Slight modification on it to fit the starter on teh goofy trans in her car and it was installed.

Gotta load the tools, give it a quick bath and I'm set to go....

Too bad you can't still buy REV! recycled motor oil at Checkers....when I got my truck in 1977, there was half a case in the cab. Burned a quart driving 10 miles to my house.

Glad to hear you finally shook it down.
The FED won't be chasing me down, There was a mishap with my steel, stupid fingers texted 4X4 tube instead of 2X4 tube so I don't have the right materials to finish things...

Life is still good though, I'm still driving a 59 ElCamino, just not towing a FED this trip.

At Ryno now. The 59 rides, drives, handles better than I hoped. That was definitely worth it!

    Heading out around Noon!

After 2 months of thrashing... a bunch of cash, blood, sweat and tears!

The dormant old Oldsmobile (un-changed since it's young pilot parked her in 1962)... is running (kind of LOL), shifting (sort of), now lowered (as much as I could without MAJOR frame modifications), and loaded (mostly oil, antifreeze, and of course beer)!

Hoping for the best the Old's hasn't gone down the highway in 40 years... especially not 3 hours on the highway, let see what happens!

A friend is going to follow me with the rescue rig, hopefully we won't need it!

    See everyone later today!

    Post trip update:

Looks like the entire trip was about 1200 miles.

Zero problems. I popped the hood only to check fluids. Got a screw driver out only to tighten the sun visor.

I'll call that a successful trip!
