Who's your favorite Kulture artist, and why?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Finktim, Nov 20, 2008.

  1. I can draw lines but never could do art like those guys. Problem is I like all their work, but if I had to pik just one, I would have to say...All of em.

Hey pinstripers, don't ya just love it when someone says he or she or their kid would make a great pinstriper...because they are artistic.

Weesner's work is amazing. I think I kinda have a man crush!:D I don't know if it's "kulture" or not, but Chris Froggett's and Lance "jersey suede" Sorchik's work is friggin killer too!

Maybe a little different culture, but gotta be Dave Mann. He was one of the originals and you knew he lived what he painted by the details in his art.

    What's a "Kulture" artist anyway????
Is that the same as an automotive artist?
    Or an auto cartoonist???
    How 'bout pinstripers????

  10. I grew up with Charlie Smith back in the 50s and 60s so I am some what prejudiced. he has illustrated for all the major car rags at some point in time and not only could draw but could put his work art to work in building the cars he had drawn. I don't have any of his work to post but he always had some wild stuff.
    Later,

I am in tune with Weesner and another guy... he was featured in the last few years in TRJ, but i must have lost the issue, as I looked and looked and couldn't find it, I don't know his name, but did amazing mixed media that portrayed old speed shop covers, show flyers, magazine covers, etc... New stuff that looks spot on, period correct and old.... can anybody clue me into who this may be? thanks much

I like them all. But if I had to pick one it would be Sonny De Palma. Great guy..great artist, and not only does his paintings rock, he can draw, illustrate, and sculpts some killer monsters. He deserves more recognition than he gets for his Kulture art.

Oh and Sonny, if you happen to read this, don't let your head swell to big! See you at rod run.

  18. Keith Weesner for sure. But all the other people mentioned are cool too. I like that simplistic style of Shag too.

I'd have to go with Keith Weesner (I prefer his graphic stuff over his paintings - although both are great) and John Bell.

  23. A few more to add to my list: Sonny dePalma, The Pizz, my old friend John Pickle, Vince Ray, Zombie

David mann's stuff is still great, kinda spooky when i was a little guy. Weesner, if i had the money there would be a room dedicated to all his stuff in my house. I love all of john bell, and coops stuff. Local guy josh shaw is great artist, and pinstiper.

Robert williams great artist, kinda dark. I like von franco's stuff too. Probably be easier to put the guys i dont like than the ones i do. I like just about all the kult, i mean culture, and cartoon pin-up stuff. It's a great time to be a hot rod guy!!!!!!!!!!
