Not degrading anyone's car, but the real hot rods modified is a kit, it even comes with all the nuts and bolts to put it together. Hell, it even comes put together. Check out their website: http://realhotrods.info/

  2. wayferer i wasn't refering to you. believe it or not. people have been use that term "kit" for alot longer than you've been around. and by the way i wasn't trying to run your car down earlier. i think you did a damn fine job on it. the front end treatment is right on.

Ever wonder why scribe doesn't post here anymore....cause of this garbage....As I have said before,he has brought ALOT to the table for such a young'in.That dude has bult more shit than most people can dream of...land and water.AND the info he has stuck in that noggin of his is immense.
This post is nearing the fuck'in ridculous. In this hobby/sport....are ya gonna fault somebody who doesnt run some vintage engine and use a new crate engine....C'mon crew....Dan works for a major pub.....THAT'S HIS JOB!.....I wish I could work there.......
And Wayfarer...I love yer ride...I bet there a lot of sweat'n blood toiled in it....It turned out super killer. But Dans job is the mag and... yea he has to discuss Ideas and sometimes promote Advertisers.....some stuff we dont care for....no big deal.

I just hope returns on a reg. basis, cause for one...I miss the lil egghead! [IMG]

The ones I like are the "Purists" who wouldn't be caught dead with a glass car. So they build a Brookville on a TCI frame instead! [IMG]

Can't miss these guys. They all have that "Steel is Real" sticker on them.

Had this little conversation last summer with one of those Steel is Real guys.
Wow, I thought that was just another ho hum old Model A on Deuce rails when I first saw it, not an actual honest to God REAL 2002 Brookville on TCI. And look it's even got the new Chevy crate engine! And you say you drove here all the way from the coast? Still has the nubs on the tires and the headers have never seen heat. Slick. What kind of mileage do you get in that tow rig when you drive to these events anyway?
Boy, I wish I could own one of those REAL STEEL cars. All I've got is an old origional roadster. Damned paint's bout 72 years old on the fenders. They're gittin scratched up a bit... [IMG]

Dee Wescot and friends have now made more Deuces than Henry did. And Brookville and the others are catching up with the steel bodies too. The whole plastic/steel/repro thing shoulda died years ago. When was the last time you saw a pair of 39 Ford tail lights? No not the repro ones, the ORIGIONAL ones. Even most 39's are running repro ones now. And no one cares. That's the way this whole kit car vs rust & junkyard debate needs to go. The car either has class or it doesn't. What it's made from doesn't matter...

Brush, that was the point I was trying to make. Dan liked the modified, decided he wanted one and that it would be good to showcase for the magazine. I'm sure Real Hot Rods has sold alot of them because of his article. Dan's car is cool and he enjoys it and that's what matters. He's a great writer and tech guy and I can't wait to see that t-bird he's working on.

  8. root, i think the answer to your question is dan kahn from rod and custom magazine. we kinda got side tracked again. sorry for holding another "trial" on your post.maybe we should all go to law school and then start our own firm. i think we would kick ass. [IMG]

Wayfarer, I reckon your car was built in a factory somewhere in Michigan afew years ago. It's a nice machine with some nice modifications, but you didn't "build" it.

I say whether it's old steel, new steel, glass, owner built or a modified factory heap, if it looks like a hot rod, sounds like a hot rod and goes like a hot rod, it is a fuckin' hot rod.

Scribe's car is 'glass. My project is Henry Ford steel.
Would I trade my pile of parts for his? In a heartbeat!

Good for Scribe. He bought himself a project, built it to suit HIM, and drove the shit out of it.

    The way it should be.

So if a car isn't "real" is it "imaginary"?

    (Smokin' Joe nailed this one.)

  17. I think everybody is missing the point. Root wanted to know who's car...now we know.
It's a cool little car. Period. Nevermid he is only 24 and to have built with or without help is outstanding. Young Dan did well.
'Glass or not...whether or not a mag project car, well done. Hell at that age if I had the cash, I might be tempted to do the same thing. I remember clearly the Streetrodder build up of a cheap fiberglass bucket a few years back, that was cool as all HELL!! And just how many 'glass t-buckets are out there???
It ain't exactly raining '32 Fords!
I'm sure he still has that '60s T-bird around for your must have steel guys.
And for the record, Westcott started making fiberglass fenders in '58 so this ain't nothing new, just a different version of a glass fender.
Let it go already. Such a stale arguement.
As someone stated, "..At least it ain't a Honda"
Go find some billet 20"s to piss on.

Oh, loved the Brookville/TCI story! Too funny...
