    Friday night

Ate a burger at our weekly cruise-in at John's Burger. It was Five Window Coupe Night, I guess, we had five different 30-32 Five window Coupes, including SamIyam's bone stock Model A. My buddy Jeremy hasn't gotten pictures up yet, so no visuals.

    Saturday
    I took pictures this time!!

I helped my room mate get his '71 Chevelle running, there was a car show at the local AA and he wanted it there, so I helped him get it going.

Pulled the body off (again), and got to workin'. Just building a firewall, and other ***orted ****. Welded on the frame, mounted the z-bar bracket, pedals, started the rear brakes, and some other junk.

The homeless looking guy is Dan, Cabbie on here. Gotta thank him a ton, amazing how fast stuff goes with two people.

It may not look like it, but I'm beginning to wrap up all the sub-systems, steering and the clutch linkage very soon, followed by the brakes, drivetrain (just need to have a driveshaft cut down), then it's registration, chopped top, and a windshield!

    Another night around the garage!

This is the frame thus far. Ladder bars, "traditional" buggy springs, and a 5" kick up in the rear.

Dan cuts the firewall to fit. There's no metal "brake" here, we did all our bends by hand. Kinda. Later, we broke that little red sawhorse.

Tack welded in. I have to thank Dan a bunch, he did ALL the hard work. It may not look like it will fit, but I reversed the firewall, it goes inward, and that has given me a lot more room around the engine. I took no pictures since I did that, so you'll just have to imagine it right now.

    Sunday
    Today was a good day.

I was a little lazy this morning, I was up til 4:00 this morning working on the above junk.

When I woke (at 9:00!!) I went to the Alameda swapmeet. Lots of cool stuff, but nothing I needed. I saw a pair of 91 fin Buick drums for $100, but that was out of the budget for now.

On my way home, I hit my favorite local junkyard to see if anything was new. On my way out for ****s and giggles, I hit the drum racks, and laying there was a decent pair of Buick 91 fin drums, and paid $40 for 'em!! WOO HOO!!!! Score!!!

I came home feeling kinda lazy, lack of sleep and all. I drove all over Livermore by every hot rodder I knew house's hoping to find someone who could help me drill my tie rod so I could tap it. No dice, so went and bought a Slurpee and went home.

I bent and plumbed the rear half of the brakes, and by nightfall half the brakes work! Yay!!!

That's what I did this weekend.

I spent the weekend cleaning the garage to make more space, replacing the Upper radiator hose on my Elky and MOST IMPORTANTLY, engineering and cutting the steel for the rotisserie for my '55 Merc.

Here is what I got done...these just missed the art show. If ya want to see em in person see me at the HAMB DRAGS. Finished cutting linoleum and got some ink kissing the paper.

The wagon is my baby! Its the only part of it that will make it to the drags this year. The gray in the pics is a metallic silver.

On the rpu: Brake hoses, driveshaft, cowl post windshield mounts, finished steering column, bunch of little stuff

But my son and I also fired up my dad's roadster for the first time in months. It's been sitting, neglected, while I thrash on the rpu. Oil change, battery charge, drained and refilled with clean gas... and she fired right up. I'd forgotten how much I dig this car. I apologized to her -- and my son took her for a nice long run down the coast to check out the cars at Monterey/Pebble.
