There is some Truth to this, But what about the guys that the HAMB has put up on a pedistle as "IN THE KNOW" Guys... But have very Little Mechanical ability ?

Sure, They have some Cool stuff ... Or a *****en Shop .... Or CLAIM they built somthing that sets records ....

Now if They answere the Question, Is it wise to Follow there lead because the HAMB says they are "IN THE KNOW" ?

The HAMB has picked out a few people Local to me & I am sure others I have not met that either PLAY Car Guy or PAY Car Guys because they have the $$$ to do so .... I try to ask most of my Questions to the Local Racers & such i can actually call on the Phone so i KNOW what kinda of Person my answeres will be coming from.

    "Me too".......... ;)

Seriously though, if I see a reply with 3 or 4 "me too's" behind it I feel a lot better about accepting it as the probable correct answer. If I see something I can add to a previous response to enhance the answer I'll add it, if I see something glaringly incorrect I'll try to diplomatically correct it (which usually starts a big ******* match), if I read a particular response that seems to nail it I'll add a "me too" so the OP has some added confidence that this is probabaly the response that will help him the most. Am I always right? No, but I try to be before I hit the submit ****on. Personally I like the redundant responses to tech questions. Like somebody else stated, you pick the one with the most similar responses and start there, that's usually the right solution but if it isn't then work your way down the list. It's nice to have options.

Could it be to get there post count up. Are they the same ones that post "nice car" for five pages on a look at my car thread or "awesome find" on a barn find thread for 10 pages. I'm just sayin.......

  6. of course.. I saw that.

I agree with these guys wholeheartly. I would much rather have multipal same answers for more affirmation for sure.

AND one of the main reasons mulitpal answers is the way to go. For me, I look at the repliers name and if it is someone I know and respect and I'm aware they know what they are talking about their answer bears more weight then someone I don't know. After almost 8 years on the HAMB I know who's who around these parts and who's blown smoke or who's a smart *** with never a soild answer.

If people take the time to respond, I have the time to read them. I doubt it is an arrogant issue, more of a chance to rhyme in with personal knowledge they possess. I believe a better thread to start would be "Car guys are sure helpful..". Would you prefer, there were no responses, to a question you ask? There are a lot of things to ***** about in this world we live in-but, does it really accomplish anything? I would rather dwell on the positive.

If you want to talk about arrogance ,How about roadster guys .Especially when they get to show ,I know the reason is their ears are humming and they are freezing .from the wind slapping them in the face and wind shooting up there leg.Hey and also wish me luck ,I have an interview today .I think its for something called a job.Im not exactly sure what that is ,I've been unemployed so long .and hanging here .

Good Luck has been endowed on carcrazyjohn... Ommmm, Ommm, Ommm

  15. ok ok I guess it was a bad idea and the intent of my post got all screwed up as well. I agree totally with all the people, men and ladies, who have said that multiple similar answers to tech questions is a good thing. What I was referring to was the post about removing bolts and all the guys who answered about splitting the nuts when if they had bothered to read the ****in thing they'd have known there was NO access to the nuts. That was part of the original posters problem but they didn't know that because they didn't bother to read the post... Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to work and to mourn the p***ing of Elvis...

Sometimes a question will catch my eye and I will answer it even though I don't think I have time to read over the whole thread, or on occasion I might even forget that there might be a hundred answers already. (This can be awkward when the thread is 3 years old :D )

That said, there are lots of folks who post on forums who think that their answer is the ONLY valid answer, this is the nature of humanity in general, and I think the vast majority of us in specific fall in this trap at least on occasion.

    Salt anyone?

I have to admit to not reading this entire thread, I hope no one else got my answer... :D

The arrogant ones most likely have sbc in a Ford. They always take the easy way out.

I completely agree, however the larger the sample size the more accurate the results. Opposing opinions and viewpoints are great and as a group a consensus can be achieved.

I didn't read this entire thread, did anyone get your question answered? I don't want to post my response again if someone did already.

I like gettin' multiple post's to my questions mostly because i'm a dumb-*** and it gives me the chance to see what others have done in situations similar to mine. It gives a guy like me, thats pretty new to building a vehicle, alot more confidence if ten guys tell me to do or check the same thing. The off-base posts help me to remember to look over other, possibly unrealted trouble spots or concerns, and sometimes the advise is just rubbish. Kinda like non-cyber life...You take what ya get and do with it how you please.
In the end though I think Sam "ACE" Rothstein said it best... "there are three ways of doing things. The right way, the wrong way, and the way that I do it." Tom Heath made a good point just above as well, some of us are just plain set in our stubborn ways.

  26. I agree to an extent. The last guy to have an original thought and live to tell about it was the guy who looked at an oyster and thought, "Hmm, that looks edible." He was a hero to me. All the other people who have had original thoughts since him are on the Darwin List. I haven't read the whole thread...I hope nobody has already posted this.

Guilty, as charged. Lazy? Less lazy than time constrained. Why does it APPEAR that I'm chiming in with an answer that's already been answered? For ME, it is simply that if I read a ***le and question that I know the answer to, I read the question then type a quick reply and move on to another thread. I do this so that the questioner gets a correct (or what I believe to be correct) response to his question. Am I arrogant and think I'm the only one with the answer? No, but I've read enough posts here in the last many years to know that there are often simple questions gone unaswered and it never hurts to have multiple correct answers.

Am I trying to sound smart? Am I arrogant? I don't believe so, I'm trying to be helpful and share knowledge that I have and someone else needs/doesn't have.

Why not read the whole thread? Because I don't have all day to spend on the HAMB and if I answer quickly, I really am not interested in all the other answers or "me 2", "hope you find your answer", "I heard... but am not sure" that litter a thread.

Oh, and I did read the whole thread before answering this question because I'm always curious why people have to complain about what other people do on a message board when they can just skip the thread or hit the little red X ini the corner.

  28. GUILTY as charged. I read the question, it's like a test. I answer if I feel I can solve it. then I read all the posts to find out if I'm a dumb *** or not. quite often I'm sorry I posted. but I also learn alot.
it's dumb *** whiner posts that I seldom answer, but I made an exception in your case..........Jim

Now this is funny I didn't read all the posts and end up below another "GUILTY AS CHARGED" POST

I dont think arrogant is the word for what your discribing. When I saw ARROGANT I figured you were going to say why do guys on here reply to a post when they have nothing but insults or advice that has nothing to do with what the guy asked about.

It's not arrogance, its wanting to help and participate. I only read a coulple of posts on this thread. Someone on page three could have written exactly what I am now.
You want to see arrogant? Go to an antique biplane fly in some time.
