Why are my battery terminals corroding?

    I know you already bought a battery, but I just wanted to spread the word about how amazing my Optima has treated me.
    They are worth the cash if you ask me....

    Install an Optima battery. No liquid, no corrosion, no worries. I put one in my Ranchero eight years ago. Not a problem since.

    Clean up the battery posts, terminals, and cable real good. Then give them each a healthy coat wheel bearing grease (your choice - I use the non-moly valvoline brand) and fasten all together. Check them every so often and re-apply as needed.

    This has worked for many years and solved a frustrating problem.

    For everyone else who actually gave tech tips, the battery was fine when I left Michigan 2 weeks ago. The old one was put into my 300 and given to my dad, and he's having the same issues in that car, so I guess it was the battery. The new one has the greased washers and posts and hasn't corroded since.
