Ah this brings back memories of my first attempt at wiring using my 39 Ford Std coupe as a lab rat. I decided I didn't want the wiring to show or be obvious so I wired the whole car with black jacketed wire. I will say that experience being a great teacher I haven't ever done that again. Jeez what a nightmare to work on, lying on my back, standing on my head, staring into the poorly lit area under the dash at a harness of all black wire.

OH OH OH...just remembered the 62 C-10 I bought on ebay, was wired with radio shack speaker wire, and wrapped 6 times around the steering column to keep off the headers! Not to mention 6 foot long black rat snake that homed up in there, and tolerated the 200 mile trailer ride home...just to get PISSED at me in my driveway!

Same truck...had a clothes pin on the choke, had a wad of foil in the fuse block, coat hanger to hang the linkage together, and yeah, wire nuts EVERYWHERE.

  4. learning curve, cars, golf, pool, playing guitar or piano makes no difference! the more you learn, the more you realise how little you know! you might master the basics but the only time you think you "know it all" is when you start learning

  5. Yeah, it's not just wiring, or mechanical work, or whatever. It's everywhere, in every profession. From welders and carpenters, to lawyers and teachers, to chefs and salespeople, every profession seems to have about 95% people who just do the bare minimum to earn a paycheck, the other 5% are true craftsmen (and craftswomen) who actually care about the work they do. Sad thing is, these quality workers rarely, if ever, get recognized for the extra effort they put forth, and the guy who gets the raise and the promotion is usually either the biggest kiss-*** or the nephew of the boss.
