Hot Rods Why did GM call it the Chevy II? A young lad asked me and I could not give him a correct answer

  1. Why did GM call it the Chevy II? A young man interested in cars wanted to know and I could not answer him. We need more kids in this hobby and I felt I let him down... C'mon guys... do any of you guys have a correct answer I can give the kid???? ( please do not post any pics of 66 and later Novas etc cuz last thread got shut down.)

    I’m not sure if we actually know “why” any vehicle manufacturer named vehicles the way that they did. Vehicle names in are largely marketing-driven, something that is intended to resonate with a target group of people. Why is my ‘47 Ford called a Super Deluxe? Because someone at Ford thought that it would attract buyers. Same with Chevy II.

    Anything after '64 (or is it '65?) is considered off-topic here. so "the deuce of the sixties" barely makes it, while the later ones (when "NOVA" became common) are strictly verboten. (Almost as bad as Camaro's.) Ooops, I said a dirty word!:eek:

    Every new model Chevrolet placed on the market in the '60s had to have a name starting with "C".
