Hot Rods Why do all the old pick ups have a hundred dents in the roof

    Mine was a flatbed wood hauler. Lots of overshot wood dents

    The roof and back of the cab of my '38 is all beat up too. Just like everyone has already said, they got worked to death back then, trucks weren't used for "commuting", and you didn't need a pickup truck to pull a boat 3 times a year.

    Back years ago a truck was a part of the workforce,it was treated for what it was built to do haul,anything you could load up to get the job done.If a mans truck didn"t have a dent in it he was most likely a insurance salesman.Throwed many a cord of wood in the back of my old man"s truck when I was a teenager,just don"t hit the back window or it came out of your pay,which wasn"t much!

    my 46 chevy pickup has lilltle dings it its roof and back of the cab . i had to have someone in ca mailed me a back of cab panel and use a stud puller welder thing to fix my . and i still have to fix the ones in the fenders. thanks

    My F1 pulled wagons on a farm at harvest time. Corn and potatoes not to mention all the other***** that was thrown on it. The roof was pretty bad and its still not the best but I didnt plan on building a show truck. The roof was dented in and the fenders were dented out from spinning wheels in the fields.

    sorry...rolled over the Stude after being broadsided on I-20 by someone that missed thier exit.......
