Not all, only 3. One for my factory gas & water temp gauges, one for the radio and one for the clock. All others work fine. Car has been converted to 12v and the bulbs are all #55 singles. Painless harness throughout the car. Would it have something to do with the grounds? Each bulb grounds by the socket snapping into it's respective case. They last for a day or two and then they pop.

    Aren't #55 bulbs 6V? A #57 is the 12V version.

Every single listing that I have found says that a GE55 is 7V.

As @Johnny Gee says you want a GE53. Those are 12V.

They have them at oh oh oh really? https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...-incandescent-mini-bulb-pack-of-2/syl2/53llbp

I had to purchase a 12 pack of bulbs, smallest amount I could get on a special order. Not cheap and not any good either, after through 6 in no time at all, now I just scavenge them from the bone yards, a 9 volt battery will show if their good

What is the actual voltage at the lamp socket? At the alternator when running? As stated, your regulator may be set too high. 14.2 volts at the alternator is about right.

If it is electric spikes in your system causing dash bulbs to blow out, you can dim them to absorb the spike till you find the cause. It's easier than replacing dash bulbs

To be honest, I haven't done any troubleshooting yet but I will. My 3G alt is a brand new PA Performance unit. I'll check the voltage. I'll have to pull my speedo and radio again just to get to the lamps then I'll check the socket voltage. I'll also replace with 53's. Hopefully, that'll do it!

55 bulbs will be fine in a 6v car, but won't last long with 12v applied to them.

I have a box of them for my pinball machine, but use 57s in the cars. 53 is pretty dim.

So, if I'm reading this correctly, 57's are also 12v and are brighter than 53's?
BTW, just measured and I have 14.76v at alternator output stud.

    Yes.

Voltage is ok. Just a tat high but I’d run it. #57’s can handle what your alternator is putting out. I’d even bet the voltage at the lamp socket is lower due to run length and smaller gauge wire.

Yeah, just get some 57s, put them in, be done with this issue.

Exactly. This is a no-brainer. You have 6v bulbs in a 12v system....not gonna work.

55 bulbs might work IF you turn the panel dimmer control down to at least 1/2 the range of the control. This is 1/2 ***ed though.

6 volt bulbs work just fine if you turn down the rheostat on the light switch.. But you need all the interior lamps to be 6v and don’t turn it up… there will be a load on the rheostat which causes heat not normally there when on the highest setting…….
