Technical Why does it seem everyone has cooling issues?

    If I remember correctly Street Rodder magazine had an article on this years ago and they were adamant about cleaning out the block and heads because of all the casting sand and crap left behind from when they were made. In fact they were talking about flatheads but said it would apply to any motor for that matter. I always do mine including late model blocks just because and you should see some of the crap that is left in them

    I run a gano filter in the return line to the radiator on all my old engines
    pull them once a year to clean
    that stuff will build up in the bottom of the radiator over time

    My '39 has an old MoPar truck radiator, an short aluminum hi-flo pump, 4 blade fan, 180 T-stat and IMG_0339.JPG no shroud. Hasn't over heated yet... Nuthin' fancy...
