Built this T bucket with an MAS tube axle and home-made hairpins front and rear in the mid '70s, drove it a lot with no problems. Ran across it a couple three years ago and the wishbones were still there, hadn't cracked off or anything.
T buckets and light rods get away with it all the time. A little bit of m*** and a little bit more suspension travel can cause problems.
I know a guy that built a T-Bucket with a blown 351 Cleveland. The rear bars didn't have an upright post at the back. Everything was fine until he took it to the drags with some slicks. The first run, he left the line with the front wheels a foot in the air, crossed the centerline, pulled it back, and ran 10.80 in the quarter. On the next run, on the starting line the lower tube rolled up, and when the pinion went nose up, it unplugged the drive shaft. He was lucky to have one of our members @deuceman32, with his 27 Bucket with a blown Pontiac to tow him home !
It wasn't me, Marty. I've had a couple of flat towing adventures, but I was at the unpowered end of the chain. Plus never having owned a blower or a 27, and being bout 2600 miles east and whatnot.
