    Money Talks.

If you wanted it, you should have either bought it, or made it clear that you wanted a day to see about a Engine.

It really ****s for you, man, I'm the same way, I'm not an "impulse buyer." But that is the gamble you take when you don't jump on a deal like that.

  9. That ****s man. Sorry.

I had a similar experience. I see a truck at a show that has a good start. It's for sale. I get the guys number, go over to see him, and just happen to bring eight grand along with me (he was asking nine).

I look the truck over and it's solid. I ask him what he wants and he says "well, I'd like to get eight grand." I pull eight f'in thousand dollars out of my pocket in 50's and he gets a big smile on his face & says he'll do it. Then his damn wife comes out and says "oh, we can't sell it until one of my friends looks at it." He agreed. I was blown away. Had the money he wanted in hand and the guy wouldn't do it. I got so pissed off that I said the hell with it and walked away.

If you're going to sell something freakin' sell it! Don't play stupid games. Money talks. First come first served.

i would have told him that it was your brother that phoned him (the other guy that called) and he was just trying to play a joke on you...then cruised on over and slapped some money in the guys hand....if he's gonna be shifty about things, you have to be twice as shifty.

The way I see it you are first in line. You looked first, slept on it and now you are ready to buy. If he's trying to be courteous to the other guy he's not really helping anyone, cause if he's a stand-up guy you are still first. He may be trying to get an ersatz auction going, kinda snakey if you are willing to pay asking price right now.

This happened to me today, as a seller.

I had a buyer for my scoot. I haven't been actively selling it, but a few guys have asked. Was willing to pay my price. Wanted to put a deposit down. I told him no. And it was still on the market untill he paid in full. That's how it goes.

We're friends, and if I was giving it away, then the friend stuff comes into play, but I've got to have come cash for this one, so it's first cash, first sell.

Had a '60 something Chevy truck on ebay. Didn't sell, the high bidder makes an offer, which I accepted. He sends $200 deposit, asks can I hold if for a month. No problem, and month later he wants to know if I can deliver it...sure. He never will give me a date when to deliver it...no, not this week...no, not week after next. I finally give up and wait for him to make the next move...never heard from him again. The $200 went for "storage fees"...I ended up parting the truck out.

3 summers ago (when I was 15) I was all "gun ho" to find a 60-66 chevy 1/2 ton pickup. I was in love with them, and I still am. Anyways, I couldnt spend much money on one, and since I wanted a shortbox stepside, I decided id have to get the cheaper longbox and shorten it. I was fine with that. Looked for months and didnt really find anything. One day I was on a tractor parts run for my dad, and on my way during the 20 mile drive along the road is a 62 chev shortbox stepside in gray primer. WOW, I was so excited I slung into the driveway and SEVERELY looked it over. It was rusty but straight, and I LOVED it. It had a 283 w/powerpack heads and a 3 speed on the tree. RAN and had a new gas tank, and spare windsheild. Through LMC truck the windsheld alone is $1200. Price of the truck??? $250!!!!!!!!! I was so excited I drove back to the farm and told my dad. He wasnt thrilled, but I didnt care. I went back and tried to talk to the owner, and his wife answered the door. She said he was somewhere in town. I said id take the truck. I drive 20 miles home and called him a few hours later. He says "oh, my wife didnt say anything to me, I just sold it 10 minutes ago." I was devastated and pissed that I hadnt immediately called. Ill probably never forget that deal. Oh, and the guy that bought it let is sit in a parking lot for months, and then it disappeared for a few months, then I found it again in a consignment lot. he had mudded all the holes shut and tried to reprime. he wanted $800 for the truck. I talked to him a few times about it, but he was an ***hole about selling it for some reason, and eventually put it in his yard. Still pisses me off.......................................Briggs

  19. I've always had the gift of knowing in about five seconds whether I want to buy a car or p***....an undeniable gift......thats why I currently own 35 cars........sad aint it? [maybe one should think on those deals a little longer!] [IMG]

A similar thing happened to me. a few months ago I found a 51 chevy 4dr for sale at a contractors shop. The car was rusty but complete and loaded with accessories,****erfly wheel, visor, trafficlight viewer, skirts, powerglide rear, a great parts car. I try for afew days to get ahold of the guy,I kept leaving voice mail, then I finally get him. he says he got the car from a customer who owed him money. he said $500 will buy it. I told him I,ll take it. he told me to meet him there the next day at 1 o'clock. So I leave work 3 hours early to go meet this guy,I get there and wait for 2 1/2 more hour for this clown and he don't show and won't call my cell back. I tried calling him and finally got him about a week later. He had no remorse for leaving me hangin', then tells me it's $800 an he's "sick of you guys strokin' me to get it for $200" I was like ,WTF, who's strokin who? Anyway, A few weeks later the windows are all snashed out of it and I had my GF call afew times with no response. My GF said we should go over there some night and strip the parts you want off of it. I know I could have but thats not my style. I went by there tonite and it's gone. Probobly to the s**** yard. What a waste of a car because the guy is a ****in' ****. I'll call around the yards Monday but most of them around here crush all but late model stuff as soon as it enters the yard.

Dude I have been there so many times. I don't know how many times Rick and I have driven to places and got ****ed over from some jack *** that thinks he has the stealth bomber in his driveway. the last one that happend to me was with a 1952 Merc. 4 door Mint shape runner no rust Original everything. had the working spots on it and under 100,000 miles. This was going to be my big break. I call this ****er up and he is all stoked that I am interested in it. Says he doesnt want to sell it to some one who willl cut her up. So I do the dance and play along. make an appt. with this ******* in new west in the ******* rain with Rick. He says "just call me when your here, I'll be waiting for your call" we get there... no one answers the door, phone, or smashing of the gates.... nothing. I can see the car under a tent in the back. drooling over it i climb the fence to get a really good look at er. I call this guy like 20 times. Never answers the phone. We leave and I call like 10 more times with Money in hand waiting. The next morning I called his place on a hunch he would answer. I get his machine and it says " Hi I am not around to take your call if you are calling for the merc. I have decided not to sell it. please leave a message after the beep." So I leave a msg alright.. I wanted to **** this guy up so bad. How can yuo do that. It was in the paper for like 3 weeks and he was obviously wanting to sell it??? Dude I feel your pain! ****s like that should be dealt with!! Forget about the wagon dude. It's a waste of time. and there is alot more rollers out there...trust me. The one you helped me on... the guy called back after 4 months. So we will find you one. (wanna buy a comet...only $2500.00 ???) tee hee

    WHO LOVES YA BABY!

As the dude was handing me the bill of sale for my 54 Stude wagon his cell phone rang. He picked up the phone and goes "Geez Joe, I'm sorry, but I JUST sold that wagon"
If I had been 5 minutes later I wouldn't have gotten it....

Why didn't you go down there immediately and say, "I'm the guy from the island that called you to look at the car."

Then buy it on the spot.

Get it out of there before the other guy showed up!

Or it could have been called "Why I hate the fact that I waited a whole day to put an offer on a car."

We would have figured out the rest.
