I was coming back from work, near Beverly bl. and grammercy. An old los 1920's angeles neighborhood lined with neat California craftsman Bungaloes, and I spotted this blue '41 convertible out of the corner of my eye.

I looked down the street and saw it was all blocked off and they were filming.

I walked over and snapped a few pics, I thought I would share them with you guys...

Besides the half day friday, and the 80 degree weather, this really made my day! It was like a time warp, I guess this is the closest Ill ever get to going back in time without the flux capacitor. It looks like the movie takes place in 1949 judging by the cars?

I think that was Donald Sutherland in the Range Rover, but I didnt want to get all Paparazzi on him..

I asked a crew member and he said it is called "Gangster" something or other, and its going to come out around sept.

Oo.. Emma Stone. Be still, my heart. I've got the hots for that chick.

Er, I mean, that movie is going to rule because of the cars. Yeah, that's what I meant. :)

  11. I love that someone gets it. The problem with most all of the period films is that all of the cars look like they're headed for Pebble Beach. Good to see a few used cars and beaters every now and then

Very cool. I love the craftsmen style homes you seem to find in pockets around LA.If they are filming now it is not coming out in September. Unless they are reshooting a scene or two. Worked on a few movies and it take time between filming and release

I'll be darned! I live in Kansas and they've been telling me all along L.A. is nothing but crack houses and gang wars. LOL, just kidding. Neat pix of cool cars and cool houses. I agree it's nice to see some movie cars that look like real cars, not 100 pointers. I always like Paul Newman's bath tub Porsche in that detective movie. It was a beater and it wasn't even that old.

The only thing that looks out of place to me in those pictures are all of the whitewall tires the cars are sporting. If you look at any "real" pictures from that time very few cars had WW's. That, and some of the cars look "too restored" somehow with not a speck of dirt on them anywhere.

If that is the movie, I wonder how Sean Penn was listed so low in the credits ? Maybe he isn't a top billing star any more ?

Wow! That was great that you got to see all of those in person and I really enjoyed both the house and car photos.

You just know some of those poor cars are gonna get rolled over or machine gunned for the sake of good film. Bummer!

BTW......anyone know of any GOOD hot rod things to do..... going to our son's wedding next weekend so most of the free time we have is during the week..... & on the 4th.

Anyone know anything about this show at Sespe Creek (Fillmore, CA) on the 4th????

Every time "Los Angeles" comes up you post the same response.
Maybe the problem isn't Los Angeles.
