Why it's very important that your hood latch works well

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by essexrat, Jan 8, 2013.

  1. I love how this idea worked out, can't thank Joe enough (KOTC). After my hood came up I was scared to death to go over 50MPH. I did add a ratchet strap after that incident but sometimes it would come off. :(

This setup is super secure and barely noticeable.

  2. There was thread a while back and the young man "wanted to suicide" his hood.
What he wanted to do was reverse the opening ( thus his use of term suicide) and hinge it at the core support. I tried telling him that a front opening/rear hinge hood indeed is already a suicide hood, from the factory.

I like the idea of the hood pins, and maby adding a cable and pulling it from inside as I don't have room to reach in the grill

I had the hood on my '62 Ranchero come up once. I saw it start to "dance" and got on the brakes. I managed to get it under 20 MPH before it came up so minimal damage; it sure got my attention though.

I really like the upside down hood pins. An idea worth stealing.
