This Honduras maroon was first out about 1953 on the Buicks then Chevrolets it was also known as ***ian Red, nice color.
I believe this 46 owned by Tony Fenn was Maroon, anyone have any more info on this car? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Workmanship aside, and a good finisher can make any color look good, I hate maroon. I know, I've said it before. The color just bores me to tears. I don't really like red that much either (although I own 2 red cars). With all the maroon finishes I've sprayed I just can't wait to get em out the door and away from me. Starts out good (hey this may not look too bad), then the sand n polish begins, and the 1st buff (looking better). Once done I can't wait to see it go. Trust me when I say I've seen some knock out finishes (and yours look great bandit, love the tan offset) but just not for me. My favorite? Green. I too would like to see more pictures of it. Seen the roll back shot, just wanna see more. I did one of those bodies too, in pearl yellow.
Yellow doesn't do it for me on any car let alone a hot rod. Must be because school busses were yellow and I ******** hated school! (See that, I wouldn't even use a yellow smiley face!)
Yes you have and I did hear you. You are 100% correct, it can look muddy and dull. I came so close to painting the car black and tan, you have no idea how close. I respect your professionalism, you know your stuff! I see that yellow car is a Speed 33 as well.
^^^^^Love it! Wish I had a roll bar. I just could not feasibly work it in without it being a strictly poser piece...and homey don't play dat!
Fitnessguy, I already asked him awhile ago, so I know the answer. In 1946 it was called Dynamic Maroon. Now it's Sprectramaster Red. Code RS468N.
It's funny how some things we see when we're young can affect the rest of our lives. When I was a little boy my Dad bought a 1961 Pontiac Catalina painted Coronado Red; it's the same color as Honduras Maroon in the Chevrolet world, just a different name. When I was a teenager, my first car was another '61 Catalina, painted the same color. It's more than 40 years later now, and I'm still driving a maroon '61 Pontiac.
Yes Sir Mr. brady1929, just bought 2 more quarts to paint the 16x4 and 16x5 early Ford steel wheels that will have three red pinstripes and stock '46 hub caps mounted with 5.50 and 7.50 Bias ply blackwalls. Also got a '53 Ford flathead that will be painted to match. That will replace the SBC that sits under the hood now!!

[/QUOTE] His son Jeff has it. As that Hot Rod article stated; he along with his brother Jim helped his dad build it. That car was not only gorgeous but fast at the drag strip. It was a long distance reacher too, made the trip to Goodguys Pleasanton with Arden, got to drive some too, great car.
Maroon is an awesome color on hot rods, cars and trucks! Yellow is for school buses, bananas........and piss.......Mark
I am lucky enough to have the greatest chrome shop on the planet in my backyard. Proof. Here is some stuff I dropped off Tuesday and picked up on Friday (yes that is 3 days later). My rear quarter elliptical leafs (5 leafs). and the bolts, and the rear end pan hard bracket. and the ladder bars I have to go back Monday and get the backing plates, they weren't ready yet. Tiny and shiny. That's how we roll
Bandit Billy, do you have any pics of your royal maroon out in the sun? Can you please post them? Check your pm' please. Thanks.
